[There is clear disbelief written on her face. It can't be what it sounds like. It can't be. Even the airship wasn't real; it faded from sight just like everything else, leaving her in the muck of a long-abandoned orphanage.]
Wh-what?
[She heard him correctly the first time. She just can't believe it.]
[How on Earth with you get used to that? Jennifer wraps her arms around herself in an attempt at comfort. Dream world. She had just escaped from one of those and now she was back and her bus fare, that was the last of her change, was she supposed to walk back whenever she found a way out? It was a stupid thing to wonder, but it's all her poor mind can focus on right now.]
[She takes a few steadying breaths, trying to keep the panic at bay. Her hands clasp upward to the front of her dress and he head lowers as she gives the ground an unfocused stare. Near her, she hears a soft whine from Brown, and another gentle nudge with on her knee from him.
Brown. Was it Brown? Brown was long dead, killed by her own weakness, but...he came to her once before. In a dream world much more hostile than this. Brown never abandoned her in her time of need, no matter how many times Jennifer failed him.
It's unlikely, probably just another stray, like in the park, but it calms her down all the same.]
M-maybe if I just...take it one step at a time... [Deep breath. Come on, Jennifer, you can do this.]
Mr. Shizuo, then. Y-you...you say this is called Somarium?
AUGH I'M SORRYredroseprinceJuly 14 2011, 02:42:07 UTC
[She kneels slightly to the dog, letting her face get close to it.]
Then maybe it really is you...Brown.
[To which the dog answers with a low bark and a wag of his tail.
Maybe it was him. If nothing else, maybe Brown came back to her. The thought caused her to smile, despite her worry. Brown always came back for her.
She straightens up again, fidgety and nervous as ever but perhaps looking less like she was about to faint from shock, and gives Shizuo a weak, uncertain smile.]
I'll be all right now, Mr. Shizuo. Would you please be so kind as to tell me whatever else you know about this place?
[If she was stuck in a dream world again, then by god, she will not wander around helpless and terrified, like she did before.]
...except there wasn't anyone else around him really so he's kind of looking at her quizzically. plus well. she was kind of reaching toward him.]
...? Yeah?

Y-yes, um...I'm terribly sorry to bother you with such a silly question, but...what city are we in?
Reply
Somni.
...You're new around here, huh...
Reply
I...yes, it seems so. I'm afraid I've never heard of this city. [The worry and general unease in her face is evident.]
Reply
...We're in a dream world called Somarium. Can't really tell you how or why we're here, sorry.

....Sorry, I didn't mean it like that.
[shoot, he wasn't good at this kind of thing. uh.]
Name's Shizuo Heiwajima. You?
Reply
N-no, it's...I'm sorry. I must seem terribly rude. I just..I-I'm not sure I entirely understand.
[Because what he seems to be saying is something that only happens in storybooks or in the minds or particularly less-than-stable youths.]
...Jennifer. My name's Jennifer. It's nice to meet you, Mr....Heiwajima.
[Do forgive her as she stumbles over that last name a bit]

...Just call me Shizuo. [one less syllable. oh you Westerners.]

Hey, you really up to this? ...Maybe you should sit down or something...your dog's worried about you, too.

...Does a person's pet often appear here as well?

Dunno. But I think some folks come in with animals so guess it's not impossible...
