[It was incredible how fast the waters had risen. Desmond had never seen anything like it before, though it wasn't really unexpected with how this world seemed to like to screw with its residents. Still, it was worrisome to think that maybe some of them had drown and that when the waters would reside (if they ever do), they'll have to clean corpses amongst the debris.
But for now, it was better to focus on the present, on helping those that sought refuge on the makeshift camp the novice had been able to build on the rooftop of his apartment building. He hadn't expect that many people after his call, but it was good none the less that so many had been able to find a safe place. It was a good thing that some had come early with new supplies: they now could stand the storm for a while. All that was needed was there: an area with tents and blankets where people could try and find some sleep, a few gazebo with fire sites in them, a place where could be cooked and served and even defenses had been raised, in case those suspicious shadows turned out to be something bad.
And now all was left to do was to welcome in new refugees, make sure everyone was warm and fed. And to hope that this black rain would be over soon.]
