rising waters

Jun 25, 2011 13:24

The rain had continued to pour non-stop for twenty-four hours, worsening during the late night hours. By mid-morning, those who were awake would discover the streets already flooded by almost a foot of the strange, dark water-as well as the houses and all other buildings ( Read more... )

[The Doctor here may just be rambling a bit, quickly but perhaps slow enough for people to hear and catch his words.]

Temperature rises, people want to be cool, they could find ways of making themselves cool but it makes sense of their dreams. They dream of water, why? Because it's too hot. No surprise, really, but then it starts to rain. Raining hard, strange color for rain if you relate this world like Earth. But the rain is so hard, it could perhaps be like a switch in people's mind, you worry.

You worry, have nightmares, you're drowning.

Flood. It's flooding, the source of your nightmares. [And then he's repeating the poem.] It's raining, it's pouring. I hear the thunder roaring. The waters will rise and drown you dead before tomorrow's morning.

[..Well that was easy enough.] ..It won't stop, it'll keep going.

[Much louder now] Go for high ground, don't stop, gather all your friends and family and try to be safe.

Rose, future Doctor [He really needs to find something to call you-- But not now, there was important matters at hand.] I'll meet you both in a bit, alright? Good.

You really believe it will become that severe?

From what I've seen, I wouldn't take the chances of that not being the case. You can never be too careful.

Of course from her words [referring to the 'ghost' girl] it seems to state that it'll only keep rising higher, we have no choice. There are always the chances she can be just trying to scare us, but that still doesn't leave us much to do. Either take the chance or be sorry. I personally like option one.

Yes, very true. I don't exactly like the thought of the water level rising any higher than it already has, but we may as well prepare ourselves for the worst.

Any suggestions on where to go?

Any building that has a couple of stories to it, the roof just to be safe.

[Seems to be studying the air.] .. Feels like it'll be going at it for a while. Worst case? Go for the floating mountain. It's high above ground, that will definitely be the best place if it gets really serious.

[His brow is knit with a pensive frown.]

Are you suggesting that this is connected to people's wishes for a change in weather?

Could be possible, or the change of weather for people's wishes. Could work both ways.

I suppose, to an abstract extent, our dreams already influence this place.

It appears that way.

So we might be faced with a question of; did the dreams bring the rain, or did the rain bring the dreams?

Pretty much that, at this rate and with what's going on I don't think we'll figure it out just yet.

But it's something to give further thought once this is over.

True enough. Right now, we have more pressing concerns.

[A nod until] Are you safe? Heading to the roofs?

Yes, I am. Thankfully, we seem to have a resourceful group here.

And you?

That's good to have.

Oh, don't worry about me, I'll be fine. [big smile.]

Well - [He returns the smile.] - that’s reassuring.

I imagine we’ll come out of this, one way or another.
