Feeling a bit restless, Ruri decided to spend the day exploring Espoir, since a majority of her time spent in Somarium thus far had been reduced to Somni. The village itself was nice, but not particularly attention grabbing. So when she looked up and saw a tall woman with what looked to be rabbit ears walking in her general direction, her interest was piqued almost immediately.

She had been here but a month and already witnessed things that made her world seem normal - people turning into cats, monsters called Pokémon, and now a woman with rabbit ears. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't intrigued, since anything even remotely monster-like or abnormal caught her attention.

The woman herself seemed to be a bit lost... and she remembered that she had also arrived around this time last month, so it was highly likely that she was new to Somarium. With that thought in mind, Ruri made her way toward the woman, face a mask of concern.

"Excuse me, but... are you lost?"

Finding herself nearing the edge of the field, encroaching on what appeared to be a village (all cobblestone streets and pleasantly simple buildings), Fran was hardly surprised to almost immediately come in contact with someone. Indeed, it was perhaps a happy accident to be so greeted - better to be known for what she was than to wander aimlessly in this place. There was no shame in finding herself rather unprepared and under educated having had no say in where she was or how she came to be there. Better to resolve confusion quickly than to stew in it.

Fran paused and tipped her head in acknowledgment of the girl, dark features bowed to her. After a moment, Fran swayed forward to close the distance between them to something more comfortable for conversation. "I am afraid so."

It seemed as though her assumption had been correct after all - the beginning of the month marked an influx of new arrivals. Ruri looked up as the woman walked closer, pausing slightly before speaking. "I see. Well... it might be difficult to believe, but... you're no longer in your own world. This is Somarium, a dream world of sorts."

She pondered for a moment before deciding to add a piece of (possibly) reassuring information to her brief explanation of Somarium.

"Few people that arrive here are without companions from their own world, however... so it's probable that you'll encounter a few of your friends during your stay."

She could feel the fine hairs bristling at the back of her neck, along her arms. Suddenly that hollowness where her awareness of the Myst, of the fine magics humming in the ground, should have been seemed so much more raw and gaping. There was a small tremor of something - not quite fear, but uncertainty at least - that passed through her. This wasn't like any dream she'd had before. It felt too solid, too certain, and the way the girl had worded it, it didn't sound as if it was the sort of dream that one simply woke up from.

To be sure, Fran pinched herself on the inside of her wrist. Her long fingernails bit gently into the softly furred flesh and she paused to study the world for a moment. No warping, no shift. Satisfied (if that was even the right word for it), she flicked her attention back to her unofficial guide here.

"Companions from my own world," she repeated. Her long ears swiveled forward. Perhaps that was some sort of clue. Perhaps she and Balthier, the Strahl even, had been caught in some kind of trap that had sent ( ... )

As she spoke, Ruri studied the woman closely, still fascinated by the sheer fact that she possessed rabbit ears. Such things didn't scare her or put her off in the slightest - coming from a world with Headless Motorbike riding Dullahans and freaks of nature such as herself and Shizuo, nothing was truly unbelievable to her.

"Yes. People in Somarium tend to have a way of knowing when their companions show up, so it shouldn't be long for you." she spoke quietly, remembering her own arrival and subsequent reunion with Kasuka.

She paused for a moment before retrieving her Dreamberry and displaying it for the woman. "You should have one of these on you somewhere. It can be used to search the names of those in Somarium. Perhaps... your friends are listed?"

Being the subject of close examination was hardly out of the ordinary for Fran. So long as it wasn't open mouthed gaping she hardly took notice of it anymore. Viera beyond the shade of the wood were strange enough to those that were born outside of it - but such examination was commonplace even with her own kind. She had long since learned to bear such scrutiny from all sides ( ... )

Ruri watched silently as the woman searched her person for the Dreamberry, which had clipped itself to a loop on what looked to be some sort of armour. Everything about this woman certainly was strange - but not the least bit unwelcome - of course, she mused to herself. It was quite refreshing to see just how varied each of their worlds was, everyone in Somarium coming from a completely different place, planet... universe even.

A small smile graced her lips as she listened to the woman make her queries, remembering just how amazed she had been - merely a month ago - by the same information. "That's right. Anyone who is in Somarium at this moment is listed in the directory. Ah, and as soon as anyone arrives or departs, the list seems to update itself. So... your friends should be able to find you as well." She gave a small nod to the device in her hands.

Fran turned the Dreamberry over in her hands, boggling at it. She could see the seams where the pieces were put together and felt nothing if not an overbearing urge to crack the thing open and dig around its insides to determine how it worked, how precisely it could store all that information. "How very sensible," she mused. It only made sense for some kind of information stream like that to be established in a world such as Somarium. She had no idea how it was possible, but the theory was at least solid, thoughtful.

Regardless, it was strange to think of herself on a list somewhere - but if it helped her find a familiar face or two, she was in no position to be too argumentative about it. She looked then to the girl; her features softened and she nodded faintly, quite like a slight bow of her head. "Thank you, for the help."

She stifled the urge to laugh as the woman turned the Dreamberry over in her hands, likely marveling over how something so compact stored so much information. Ruri certainly wondered how it did many of the things which it did as well, so she understood all too well the woman's curiosity.

When the other woman nodded and thanked her, she quickly remembered herself. "It's not a problem at all. This is a lot to take in all at once."

Then she recalled that she hadn't even bothered to introduce herself throughout the entire exchange, causing her to feel a bit rude. "Ah, please forgive my rude behaviour." She bowed her head lightly before smiling slightly. "My name is Hijiribe Ruri, it's a pleasure to meet you."
