If he's nearing the front of the dojo itself, Tohru, wearing a white sundress, an apron over that and a hat, could be seen hard at work sweeping up the surrounding area. She pauses to wipe the sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand, looking cheerful and upbeat as per usual.

Kyou avoiding the dojo had been hard for her. But she couldn't let that get her down (even though she missed him terribly). She kept herself busy, cooking and cleaning the house and running errands for Kazuma. That did seem to help a little to alleviate the loneliness she felt. She looks up, blocking the glare of the sun with her hand. The girl lets out a laugh, admiring how clear the sky looks.

'Summer must be coming soon...'

One more block. Just one more block until the dojo. Kyou paused at the corner, taking in a few deep breaths before turning. The first thing that he sees is Tohru standing outside with a broom in hand, cleaning up the front of the dojo. Somehow, he imagined she would be doing something like that when he returned.

He takes a few hesitant steps towards the dojo, still a little wary about finally heading back before he mustered his courage and walked towards her at his normal pace. There was no way he could hide from her now, especially not when he was this close. Stopping a few steps away from her, he finally opens his mouth and raises a hand to greet her.

"Hey."

Tohru looked up to see who it was. Her eyes widened in shock, not quite believing who was standing in front of her. Her grip on the broom loosened, making it drop unceremoniously on the ground. The girl stood there, staring straight into his eyes, wanting to open her mouth to say something but it felt like she lost her voice.

'Kyou-kun...?'

The boy smiled, walking closer towards her. Looks like his return was too much to take for the poor girl. Seeing her again was definitely a good thing, even if there weren't many words exchanged between the two of them. Or none for that matter.

Finally, a chuckle rose from his throat as he knocked her lightly on the head with a closed fist. Looks like he'll need to be the one who breaks the ice between the them.

"What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?"

And as soon as the words leave his mouth he lets out another laugh, this one sounding a lot more pathetic than he would've liked. The phrase seemed all right in his head but he immediately regretted saying it after hearing it with his own ears. "You know what? Forget I even said that, okay?"

Tohru winced, chuckling a little when he knocked her head. He always did the gesture and it was one of the things she came to love about him. He had been gone for so long and it was at that moment where she realized how much she missed him. There were so many things she wanted to say to him but for some reason, she couldn't bring herself to speak at all.

She inhaled in hopes of calming herself down but her breath sounded shaky. Her shoulders started to shake as well as she lifted a hand up to hold his. A hiccup escaped her, her grip on his tightening. As much as she willed for it not to happen, tears started to fall down her cheeks.

A month was a long time not to see someone, especially when it was someone you cared about. It had been a while since he felt her soft hands in his. He sucked in a breath as her skin met his, trying to calm himself down before he wound up saying something stupid once again.

A grimace formed on his lips as he watching the tears roll down her face. Seeing them made him feel horrible for deciding to leave the dojo even if it had been a temporary arrangement. But he knew that it was worth it, that the time apart did him some good. It sounded selfish and he hated himself for thinking that but being around her when things were just so uncertain just didn't settle all too well with him.

Quietly raising his other hand he wiped away a tear that had began making its way down her cheek. "C'mon. At least say something."

Tohru leaned into his touch absently, her other hand reaching out to take hold of it as well. She sniffed, trying to swallow a lump she felt in her throat. Her mind raced. It felt like her heart was about to burst. The problem was she didn't have anything to say; it was quite the opposite. However, she needed the strength, the courage to finally speak up.

"I..." She took one more breath and finally found her voice. "I missed you."

Feeling suddenly lighter, she lifted her head up, a sheepish smile forming on her lips. She squeezed his hands, gently bringing them down so that she could look at him fully.

"Welcome home."

It didn't take long for a smile to plaster itself onto Kyou's face, especially after seeing Tohru smile back at him the way she did. He did nothing to pull his hands out of her grip, instead allowing her to hold onto them for just a little bit longer.

He opens his mouth for a moment, pausing as he almost returns the sentiment. I missed you too. It had been true. Despite all the negative thoughts that clouded his mind over the past few days, he did miss her. But those words remain unsaid as he retracts them at the very last second. In the same breath he chooses to say something else. "Thanks. I'm home."

"U-um, are you hungry, Kyou-kun?" She asked, squeezing his hands. "I can make you something to eat if you want..."

He doesn't even bother to mask that laugh that escapes his thought after she asks the question. It was a typical question coming from her but considering the circumstance, most people might not have asked something that simple after everything that had happened between them.

"I get back and that's really the first thing you ask me, huh?" Kyou smiles easily as he looks down at her. Had his hands been free, he might've just smacked her on the head once more.

"A-ah! I'm-I'm sorry!!" Tohru yelp, letting go of his hands because she started to flail her arms. "I-It was the first thing that came to mind!"

Of course there were better things to ask. Like, How are you? would have been a good place to start or How did your training go? was another. But Tohru decided on asking if the boy had eaten anything yet. She groaned, mentally berating herself for asking that first.

The smile on his face doesn't leave as Tohru flailed her arms in the air. To be honest, he hadn't really minded that she chose to ask him something completely mundane. It was just another welcome reminder that he was finally back to a place that was familiar to him. He really wouldn't have like things to go any other way.

Deciding to go with the flow, he readjusts the strap of the backpack on his shoulder. "What do you have leftover in the fridge?" Some milk sounded good, too.

Tohru paused, furrowing her brows in thought. Her face brightened when she remembered the last thing she put into the refrigerator.

"Ah, we do have some chicken curry left over. Would that be all right, Kyou-kun?"

"Yeah, that's fine." He leans down for a quick moment, picking up the fallen broom from the floor and handing it to over to Tohru.

"Do you still have a lot to do? I can fix it up myself if you're still busy."

"Oh, no," Tohru takes the broom from him, shaking her head in response.

"I was finishing up here. I can heat it up for you if you want."
