Fay App Cont. kaitou_marina January 8 2010, 05:30:30 UTC
Piffle: Fay decided to enter a race with everyone in order to win one of Sakura’s feathers back. During the time in this world, he assigned family roles to everyone, dubbing himself the mother, Kurogane the father and Sakura, Syaoran and Mokona the children. Unfortunately, he was unable to get far in the race (which was rigged with traps meant to eliminate racers). When Kurogane was eliminated in a sudden accident protecting Sakura, Fay fussed over him a great deal, leading Kurogane to observe that Fay seemed to have begun to care about them all a great deal. This fazed Fay quite a bit, though he quickly hid himself again.

Rekort: Fay’s level of involvement came to its first peak in this world. While escaping with a feather from a magic library, the group ran into a spell that wouldn’t allow Mokona’s travelling ability to work. Fay used his own magic to make a counteracting field that let Mokona’s powers activate so they could safely get away. For the sake of his companions, Fay broke his promise to himself to never use magic ...

Which brings us to Tokyo and here comes the heavy detail again:

In this post-apocalyptic world of ruined cities and acid rain, the travelling group was reluctantly taken in by a group of people whose only remaining shelter was one of the last standing skyscrapers. Inside, while Syaoran and Sakura slept with wound-fever and memory-recovery respectively, Kurogane confronted Fay again about his constant running and hiding and half-assed involvement. Basically, Kurogane told him to shape up and decide where he stood. These words weighed on Fay and his façade broke a little when he was alone. That was the hardest thing for him to do after all.

Despite his internal conflict (knowing that he was actually supposed to be against them), Fay decided he needed to keep a more careful eye on Syaoran. Already aware of his true nature (that of being a clone), he could feel that Syaoran’s heart was being kept in place by only a seal and that seal was weakening. He insisted on going alone with Syaoran on a hunting trip to observe him and when they returned to find out that Sakura had been pulled into an underground reservoir because of a memory feather, Fay followed him to the edge of the pool. He waited there anxiously until blood suddenly welled up to the surface of the water. Fay dove in, only to find a horrible sight: The formerly gentle Syaoran tearing the arm off of the vampire he had been fighting. The seal had broken.

Fay tried to return the heart with all his might, even going so far as to use his magic to attempt to redo the seal. When this failed, the clone overpowered him and, realizing that the source of Fay’s magic was his eyes (specifically their blue color, but that was a little too specific for Syaoran to track. Yes, I know this is weird. Yes, it’s somewhat important later), he tore out the left one and devoured it. Even as the clone was doing this, Fay tried one last-ditch effort to return the seal. The rest of the scene passed in a blur for him.

When Fay came to again, Syaoran was gone, replaced by his original, and Fay was dying of shock from his wound. The country lacked proper medical supplies to treat him. He knew it was better this way and insisted they just let him die (especially since that would make the power the clone had stolen from him disappear), but Kurogane and everyone else refused. Working with Yuuko, they managed to come up with an adequate price to save his life involving receiving the blood of Kamui the vampire. Yuuko told Kurogane that since Fay did not wish to continue living that he would have to bear the burden of keeping Fay alive by becoming the only person he could feed off of. Fay tried to protest again, but Kurogane told him that if he wanted to die so badly, he would kill him personally. Until then, he should live. In that moment, Fay realized Kurogane had gotten too close. Then, the blood was flowing into his mouth and he underwent a violently painful transformation. The next time he awoke, he had already come to a decision. When Kurogane came to check on him, he greeted him with “Good morning, Kurogane.” A simple set of words and an impersonal smile. The nicknames were gone. With that, he had put up a wall between the two of them.
