Fei Wang immediately used this to his advantage, filling Yuui with guilt over the death of his brother and blaming him for it. He placed a curse on him, telling him that it was something he must bear because he caused the death of another. Then, he told Yuui that he could help him revive his brother, if he was willing to fulfill some tasks for him. Soon, Fei Wang said, someone would come to take him out of that valley. Once out of the valley, Yuui would be forced by his curse one day to kill someone with greater magic power than himself. Furthermore, he placed a second curse on Yuui and removed his memory of it, telling him the time for that would come later. He was to leave and go on a journey across worlds as Fei Wang’s pawn with a certain group of people that Fei Wang had arranged, including a desert princess and a clone Fei Wang had created. There would be one other person with the party, a young ninja, but Fei Wang told Yuui that he would only be a hindrance and that he was to kill him if he became so. Finally, some magic feathers (shards of the desert princess’ memory) would fall in the country Yuui would be brought to. He was to take one of them with him when he left for his long journey. After handing out these instructions, Fei Wang left Yuui with his brother’s corpse to wait for the one who would take him out.
It wasn’t long before a tall, regal man with long, dark hair appeared in the valley. He was Lord Ashura of Seres country in another world, and he was there to take Yuui with him. When asked his name, Yuui gave his brother’s name, Fay, instead. In that way, he erased his own name.
In the country of Seres, Lord Ashura helped Fay lay his brother to rest beneath the waters of a deep pool, along with Fay’s long hair and a piece of fluorite (a protective stone in that country). Then, he gifted Fay with a second name: Fluorite. In return, he asked that Fay do him a favor one day: to use his power to destroy any who would threaten the country, no matter whom they might be. Fay remarked that if someone with greater power than his were ever to come to that country that he would be forced to kill them and Lord Ashura responded that he already knew about the curse. He told Fay that he could not remove it, but he could help suppress it. Since Fay’s magical powers would grow greater the more he used them, Lord Ashura gave him a magic marking on his back that would suppress (yes, you read that right) further growth of his magic. This is because he knew that one day, his own magical powers would surpass Fay’s. He removed Fay’s memory of this and Fay continued on thinking that the magic marking was helping keep the curse in check.
Lord Ashura raised Fay like his own son, teaching him magic techniques (to utilize his great power) and combat techniques. Eventually, he was granted the title of “D,” a high title in wizardry. Like this, Fay went into the service of the kingdom, going on missions to assist its people.
During one such mission (that of defending a village from an avalanche), he uncovered two feathers of memory frozen in an ice crystal. He remembered his instructions regarding one of them and hid it away. The other one, however, he made into an artificially created being named Chii (who was modeled after what Fay remembered of his mother) so that someone could always stay at his brother’s side when Fay couldn’t be there.
