microwave failure

I've had two microwave ovens fail on me this month and my mom, coming back from a trip to the store to get a new one, said the sales guy there was a bit antsy due to people buying and returning microwaves for refunds.

Either some bad electrical components have been getting into microwaves lately or something is funny with the powergrid and it is only killing microwaves.
