a strangely optimistic man (who tends to hate holidays, by the way)

"Over the next few years all these people are going to have to live with
many negative consequences. There will be some learning going on just
like when I was a little feller. Yes, people make the same mistakes over
and over again. Keep in mind that the people that are benefitting from
this Administration are not really going to be any happier than us.
Fame, fortune and power at the expense of spirit is a very bad tradeoff.

In the final decade of Nelson Mandelas incarceration he could have been
released but he refused on principle. In fact, he had the SA government
in prison, by refusing their offers! He wielded more personal power than
his captives because of his understanding of himself and the world.
Surely all of us that disagree with our current President can rise above
these circumstances and celebrate life. I am going to try really hard to
keep my energy high!

Love,
Dad"
