moving?

so, some of you already know, but there's a really good chance that bill and i will be moving next summer. it's a long story why, but the short version is that USC kinda blows, and bill can make more money and have better career opportunities elsewhere. right now it looks like it's gonna be either Westminster, MD or (more likely, at the moment), Macon, GA. i don't think it'll effect my "career" with Barnes & Noble, providing that they'll allow me to transfer into a similar position, if at all - i've heard horror stories about how unnecessarily difficult it can be to move from store to store, even if you're in a lead/managment position. i guess i should be grateful that i've never made much of myself, careerwise - it sure makes moving around a whole lot easier.

i'm kind've excited, but all the typical moving issues are very much on my mind. first and foremost being that at the time we move, i'll have been in SC just under 2 years - 2 moves in 2 years does not a relaxing and settled in life make. i'd be the last one to sing the praises of Spartanburg - believe me - but it feels like i'm starting to make some friends here (granted, mostly through work, but isn't that how most of us make friends these days?). it was hard to leave my group of longtime friends in michigan - and it's not going to be much easier to leave the small group i've made here. i know there will be more people that i'll connect with, no matter where we end up, but it's frustrating all the same.

i'll let everyone know as soon as i know - bill should be making his decision in the next week - because why have an average stressful holiday, ya know?

p.s. i just discovered this band, Porcupine Tree, a few days ago, thanks to their grammy nomination and itunes - they've been around for ages...but better late than never...i completely love them - every song has a unique sound - here are a couple, one mellow, one progg-y and tool-ish...enjoy :)
