First garden harvest was today, and comprised of thinnings from the romaine, broccoli rabe, and mesclun patch. They'll make a tasty salad.
Spent six hours cleaning what was the former Lanark post office, which is on my parents' property. It's really just a very small Victorian cottage that was built some time in the 1860s to handle local mail. It faced demolition 25 years ago, as the lot on which it sat was being sold for development. My parents saved it by having it moved across the street onto their property. Anyway, the roof was replaced last week, and that left a shower of debris all over everything inside, hence the cleaning. Everything was covered with drop cloths, but it still needed a thorough cleaning inside.
It's a neat little building, and currently just used for storage.
Planning to restore the porch on it this year. Still have the original columns. Base of porch will be fieldstone. Top: probably a blue stone edging around the perimeter and tile in the center. Another stone project for cat....
