Ok, it has been ages since I have posted or even logged in to my LJ. Stuffs been happening, but apparently not anything I felt compelled to journal about.
Anyhoo, we got a new camera. I actually got it for
starisea as a surprise, but for the last few days while she is at work I have been playing with it. It is a Canon S2IS, and it is fun. We got a lens adapter kit from
Lensmate which allows us to put filters and other lenses on it, and also serves to protect the camera's moving parts and stuff. Another thing we got for it is a macro lens, since a lot of the stuff that the lovely lady likes to photo is small (like moss and fungus). The macro lens makes it so that a picture can be taken where the subject is only 1/2 inch across. It is coolie cool.
So enough blahblahblah, how about some examples:
This is a close up of a fuzzy, shaggy purple pillow that we have. That is the tip of one of the shaggy bits, sort of like twisted yarn. The tip of it that is in the photo is about 1/8 inch across.
This next picture is of the middle of a flower. I think it was a white peony poppy. It was part of a bouquet, but at the time I took the photo the flower was pretty much past it. The petals had all wilted back and revealed this big green bumpy looking thing in the middle. Yes, stand in awe at my impressive use of botanical terminology...
This is a piece of stained glass with sun behind it.
And so you don't think that all the camera can do is wacky macro shots, here is a picture of a hawk we saw last weekend when we bike riding along the Springwater Corridor multi-use trail.
From the same day, an osprey that was flying around overhead.
A color accented photo of Rasil, who looks very handsome in the picture in defiance of his whiny, neurotic personality.
And one last one. Last night I was up late playing around in Photoshop. Image manipulation is fun. :) I am calling this image "Eye of the Beholder".
