Mirrormask

We went and saw Mirrormask on Saturday. I have to say that I quite liked it. In fact, I would like to see it again. It is an amazing feat that they made such a visually stunning film for $4 million. I should point out that I went in expecting to like it, since after all I am a big fan of both Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. I have only been waiting for this movie for what seems like forever. I was not disappointed. I hope they hurry up with the DVD.

It has been a moviegoing couple of weeks, too. Last weekend we went and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and just to be totally saturated in Tim Burton-ey-ness, we also saw The Corpse Bride. Of the two films, The Corpse Bride was better. Both were entertaining, and I really enjoyed Johnny Depp's over the top performance as Willie Wonka, but The Corpse Bride wins out.

Today is such fun... er, not so much. Not only is it a Monday, but I get to leave work early (normally a good thing) to go to the dentist (again, I was just there last week) and have a crown replaced. The one they are going to take out has a small gap at the edge that apparently might be letting all sorts of horrors develop under there, and since it is a gold crown they can't see under it with the x-rays. It is a crown that I have had for about 12 years, I think, so I guess it is a good time. I would rather do it now than have to have root canals and all of that pleasantness.
