I'm surprised at the number of people who have been saying that an apprenticeship is a good idea.
If I don't do it soon, it won't be worth the investment, so I need to do this soon. I know that I want to do well for my family, and a crappy-ass $12.96 / hour in a position that won't always be there really isn't good. Going to see about it for sure. When skilled trades are worth as much as $40-50k per year, that's an investment that would be entirely worth it.
I have the math skills to be an electrician, but carpentry... that sounds good. I don't have a fear of heights really, as long as it's not like some fifteen story monstrosity. I truly do like the idea of "I built this". And it would be an interesting full-circle in my family. The hutch I use to store my older games and various stuff... was hand-made by my father.
So, going to look into carpentry.
