You really can't imagine the Christmas dinners

Note: Written for this MMAM in sherlockbbc. It was totally chaotic to write and when I read it through I got the same feeling. But it was so much fun writing it (like the Harry Potter-poker-chaos). The hardest part was the names, because if two of the children are named Sherlock and Mycroft, the rest are not going to have names like Tom or Lisa.

How their parents had managed to produce the two of them was a statistical improbability. Hahahahahaha...

I could see how Mycroft could feel the way he does(as a sullen teen, I used to hide away in my room whenever my Dad would host large family parties at our house) and why he and Sherlock would suffer through family gatherings.

“You sent the baby to the roof?” Mariamne called out, sounding much more hysterical than Mycroft knew she was. “Sherlock, go and help him.” Heee!!
Thanks for the fill. It's interesting and different, and I love it.

Glad you liked it :) I loved your promt! Have to admit that I'm more of a Berenice when it comes to family gatherings...not that I have any kids out of wedlock (as far as I know...).

Also, I was two seconds from giving them twinbrothers named Hugin and Munin, but that - if anything - was a cue for sleepingtime ;)

Oh, dear G-d. Imagine the Christmas dinners, indeed. I got claustrophobic just reading about it. Well done!

Thank you :) I'm glad you had fun reading it because I had so much fun writing it :D And I’m ridiculously proud to make your fangirl go wild, as said so many times: I regret nothing ;P

(and your icon? so unbelievably true! Always makes me smile when I see it)

I have... *deep breath*

Two older siblings, both married, one with kids and one not; a single younger sibling; father, mother; of the sibling's kids, all three are married, two with kids, one not... and the two with kids have produced one boy and two girls so far between them. And a husband and two kids of my own. So we're about twenty when we get all in the same place. and the noise is unbelievable.

In other words, just like this. Except I'm the only odd one out, or like your Mycroft without a Sherlock. Maybe I should try drinking. *g*

When I was brought to a boyfriend's extended family gathering, I was shocked to learn that the volume of other people's dinners was below 100 decibels.

Love the story, especially Mycroft and Sherlock on the porch. :)

Noise has its charm ;) It has to be loud, otherwise you wouldn’t know everyone had a good time, right? ;) (Like you have to slurp, otherwise you wouldn’t know you were eating soup).

Glad you liked the story :) I liked the porch bit too, fight hard to patch up Sherlock's and Mycroft's relationship...

Since I'm never the odd one out at our family gatherings (instead I'm the oldest of 17 cousins and the one who runs around and play with all the toddlers and helps out in the kitchen at the same time) I can't guarantee the drinking will help ;)

If my Christmas festivities were anything like that, I'd want to cancel Christmas, too. :) What a horrible family! I liked how Mycroft hated the Christmas dinners just as much as Sherlock and how the two brothers bonded over their mutual loathing.

My favourite sentence:
No it was not uncle My.

No, it's never, never, never going to be Uncle My, otherwise Mycroft is really going to start World War III!!!

Ehehehe... I love this family! I had so many plans to write a lot about them. But.. ehm... other things got in the way ;)

Now I mostly wonder about Mycroft's kids and who their mothers are.
