Axel von Fersen (swe, eng)
Axel von Fersen was a Swedish count who lived 1755 to 1810 and he was one of the most important and influential persons in Swedish politics during this time. He was a notorious ladies’ man, participated in all European wars during his lifetime, was the occasional interpreter between Washington and Lafayette during the American revolutionary war (which was a European war at the time), planned the French Royal family’s flight from Paris 1791 (and even drove their carriage out of the city) and insulted Napoleon Bonaparte by refusing to address him as anything else than “monsieur”. Furthermore was he friend with Gustav III and helped his son keep the Swedish throne after Gustav’s murder before later overthrowing him. He and his sister were accused of poisoning his best friend (who just happened to be his sister’s lover) and later also the Swedish crown prince Karl August. These accusations were probably the reason he was lynched in front of Bondiska Platatset in Stockholm during the crown prince’s funeral while the city guards were standing close by, watching. The murder of Axel von Fersen is one of the most startling murders in Swedish history (and just partly because evidence suggests the king was involved) but the count is most famous for being the alleged lover of Marie Antoinette and the father of her second son.
Do I have to say that I have a crush on him?
From afar (translated to eng)
Axel finds himself frustrated and annoyed by the overpopulation of Swedes and the charade of stiff etiquette and real politics he has to endure during the formal visit when all he wants to do is have carefree days in the Queen’s company.
If he would have been an ordinary person (translated to eng)
Saw a part of Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette (2006) on TV, just the short clip when the King and Queen were dining while their people were screaming for their heads outside. The destiny of Louis XVI has always makes me sad, he wasn't a bad man, not even that bad a king, he just ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Does your mother know? Last man standing (swe)
