It's my birthday!!

First off....I guess I left some of you hanging after my last post. I did end up going into work, but it wasn't until later in the day. So, I got some stuff done at home and still got some work hours in. Yay me! And it paid off too because not only did I have more hours on this paycheck, but since it's the third paycheck in September, they didn't takek bennies out of this one. So it's a nice check.

I'm going to continue to try to work a full 80 hours every 2 weeks. It just doesn't make any sense to get another part time job when I'm not working all that's available to me at this one. I get paid more per hour at the Hospital than I would at some dumb McDonalds job anyway.

Speaking of work...this week has been fun, the lady who normally does the ER's has been gone all week and I've been allowed to work on ER's all week. I've really enjoyed getting it caught up. The bad thing is, I'm off now for 4 days (well, THAT part is good) and when I come back she'll be doing the job again and she'll let it get all behind again so all my pretty work will be for naught. ::sigh:: If I'd had my camera with me yesterday I would have taken a picture. I'm so OCD!

And regarding my OTHER job. (Swiss Colony Occasions) It's slow going. I only have one party booked in September and one in October. I did however get a call from a lady who saw one of the catalog I placed in one of the Dr's offices. I'm mailing her a catalog today so we'll see what comes of that. And, in two weeks, me and the other two consultants in this area are gonna sit a table at a county fair. I'm hopeful that that will bring some business my way.

I'm still just so unsure how I feel about this direct sales thing. I really don't think I'm cut out for it. Parts of it are fun of course. The parties are always fun. The products are amazing and the rewards (ie, the money) is good. I think the problem is that I'm not much of a driven kind of person. I'm not willing to make the phone calls, send out the mailings, etc that it takes to really get alot of bookings. I pretty much just put the idea out there and if someone wants to book a party or buy some stuff, I figure they will. But if not, I'm not going to hound them and badger them till they do. If I did, I would have more parties booked by now and more money coming in. But I just can't sacrifice my friendships and relationships for a little money.

My greatest fear in doing this is that people will begin to think that I only want a relationship with them so they'll buy stuff or book a party from me. I don't want that. At all! I don't want people to feel the need to run and hide when they see me coming because they don't want to have to hear about Swiss Colony Occasions any more.

So....we'll see how it goes. I told my friend who sponsored me, if I ever get to a point where I have no more parties booked, I'll consider quitting. But for now, I have two parties coming up and I'll put my best into those and just go from there.

In other news......Today is my birthday. yay!

Here's the plan for the day.

1)sleep in Ok, scratch that, I had to get up and help Aaron with memory work. But at least I can take my time getting ready and I can actually read and post to my LJ for a change.

2)Take Aaron to the Podiatrist. He's got some warts on his feet that are causing him pain when he walks, poor baby.

3)Lunch with my mom, Grandma and Cousin Roger.

4)possible coffee with Terry

5)On the Waterfront! Tonight it's The Fabulous Janes (a really fun 80's cover band), Frontiers (another good 80's cover band) and the Cherry Poppin'Daddies. And whatever other trouble I can get into.

Not a bad day all in all.

The rest of the weekend is shaping up nicely too.

Sat) Possibly working for Holly to help offset Tori's dance tuition.
Sun) More Waterfront. Some band called the edge (friends of my sister) and then Fat Elvis and live band karaoke at Brio. He's (Paul) having something like 4 tons of sand brought in to make a "beach" out in the alley behind his place. He's calling it the first ever Urban Beach party. It should be interesting. At midnight, his buddy and business partner Damien's band is playing. I don't know if I'll stay up that late, we'll see. His band's name by the way.....Three Piston Ass Hammer. LOL!!

Then Monday is Heartland's Block Party. They're taking over the parking lot of Colonial Village (where the new church is being built) and inviting all the neighbors to come out and party. Music, food, games for the kids. It should be a blast. I'm working in the "student zone" from 11-2. (hence the hesitation to stay out too late Sunday night)

And somewhere in all of this, I need to find the time to do some laundry and get my lifefiles organized. I'm convinced that the key to happiness lies in an organized life. If I ever achieve that I'll let you know if I was right. ;-)

Ok....8:30...time for a shower and get ready for the day, then to the bank and pick up Aaron. Ahhh......life. It just never stops. And as Ferris Bueller would say, if you don't look around once in a while, you'll miss it.

Chao!
