Well, this weekend has been a little different, if rather enjoyable =D
If you have the time, and wish to look at castle ruins & Doctor Who locations, and look at the wonderful pictures I took in Wales, then your in for a treat =D
It all started with the following conversation:
Soph & friends (I shall label Remus and James, because the irony is amusing)
The three of us are sitting around a small table, all three of us on laptops, being social whilst working and hot mugs of tea. Because apparently all animators are obsessed with the stuff.
Remus: *looks up* We should do something this weekend.
James and Sophie also look up from animation work
James: Huh?
Remus: Yeah, do something we've never done before, it's Saturday tomorrow after all.
*the three of us begin pondering on this idea*
Soph: We went to Wales first year, but it was mostly countryside.
Remus: And it'd be pretty cheap to get there from here.
*more pondering and suddenly Remus grins from over his laptop screen* I found a castle! We should go!
James: A castle In Wales? Cool!
We all looked at the website, and low and behold after a buying of tickets and a grin of glee from the three of us the following day we woke up at some godforsaken time to get on the train to a small town in ways called Caerphilly (pronounced Care-fill-lee). The town itself was beautiful, and even though it's getting pretty damm cold here in England now (We were wearing three layers, scarves and coats) we found ourselves in the warm summer sun.
I felt horrifically geeky, as I went round taking photos, just because I wanted to pretend I was in Cardegoss...The castle was 15th century and they'd been doing it up, and was used for filming in 2007 (I have a feeling it might of been used in Merlin when they needed some indoor sets that they might of needed to re-shoot but that's just the fan-girl in me) So yeah, below are some photos of the castle!
Myself and James posing in the banquet hall. My favourite shield was the one just above me on the right ^__^ Three guesses why! and then these two awesome posing on the ruins by Remus and myself:
And when we left we have tea and scones in a little tea shop :D
I couldn't stop grinning
So after all that, tea and after exploring the castle, this happened:
Remus: Lets go up the mountain.
Soph: .... Mountain?
James: Yeah! Lets go!
We had been convinced by three little old Welsh ladies to climb this mountain because at the top was a place where you could by a 'Mountain Burger', now, I thought they were just exaggerating on all accounts here and my first thought, narrow minded and stupid was: A mountain? In Wales? Come off it.
How wrong I was:
It was pretty damm steep, and both of them were adamant not to take any sort of path. What is it with men and not taking paths? Why is it so hard for them not to see a path and follow it the way it's supposed to?
So, I ended up hiking a mountain, blind if we were actually getting anywhere, and I was petrified we'd get lost. That and my feet by this time were really starting to go numb.
We made it to the top, after the longest roundabout route we could find and we got to see this tiny shack, selling Mountain Burgers. They were actually called the 'Mountain Monster' and it was a burger with the following: THREE burgers, TWO rashes of bacon, onions, mushrooms and double cheese.
I now know why I had to work so hard to get up the mountain, and thus, going DOWN the mountain, was actually harder than going up because once again I was convinced into not taking the path and going down a steep hill instead (and I fell over three times :( not cool] On recalling the day though getting down was....pretty damm hilarious actually. It was painful, it was tiring, it was pretty damm scary considering we found a dog barking to us through barb wire and wouldn't leave us alone, but other than that we found the road and found ourselves back at the train station.
We still had plenty of time left, so I suggested going to Cardiff, the Capital of Wales, where quite a lot of Doctor Who has been filmed over the last 5 years and so I got to see the Millennium Docks, which Who-Fans and Torchwood Fans will recognize, and I bought myself a K-9 T-shirt in the Doctor Who Shop where the Exhibition was being held
I'd love to go there again, that's for sure. Preferably with fans of the show. Remus and James weren't too enthuastic, but they did drag me down a mountain, I think they were trying to apologize for my hard time =D
So then, we went home, I fell asleep on the train, and the boys took a photo >.> because they're big children, but I have to admit, it was one of the best days out ever, I really enjoy spending time with Remus and James, just because it's clear we really enjoy each other's company, and we didn't talk about animation work barely at all.
- We only did when we came across things related - Remus's film has a balister/crossbow which they had at the castle, James needed a city so he enjoyed taking photos in Cardiff, and I ran around lots of damm frighting woods for my film.
So yeah, I'd say all in all, a fantastic day =D I just hope I get to do more things like this more often

On another note, I've had a really strange TV week, I've been enjoying Merlin - as always (I do like Merlin but recently I'm not as attached to it or it's story line, though it might be because I'm just enjoying it, not analysing it or getting crazy about pairings and finding things ridiculous and fun and what have you? I don't know, but I still look forward to it every Saturday =D
I've always just finished watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution & The Inbetweeners. The former of the two, is quite good and I'd recommend people watch it, just because it's so bleeding interesting to watch, and the first episode made me feel ill =(
The Inbetweeners just makes me think of my brother - and the Marauders in the modern era being that they are completely hopeless and no where near as popular as they are in Potter verse. But yeah, it's pretty fun.
I'm about to start watching 'Single Father' with David Tennant. I get the feeling it's going to make me sob like a baby, but we'll see ;___;
Hope your all well, and I'm sure you'll see more from me as my work keeps going, as it is always on the move.
