to the year.

Dec 29, 2004 01:12

1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?

Stood up for myself and proved to my parents that I am a capable and driven person. Went to church. Oh, and delivered a pizza.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I didn't have any. Maybe I will this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Thankfully, no.

5. What countries did you visit?

Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, England, Wales. Wow, it was a good year, huh?

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?

Athleticism. Motivation. A dog.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Graduation. I mean, I finished high school, it was kind of a big deal.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Having enough self-respect to recognize that I deserve better than what I had, and that I had the choice to make my decisions for myself. Saving $2000 in three months. Selling Josie for almost 3x what I paid. Setting aside insecurities and inhibitions long enough to be overwhelmed by emotion.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not recognizing the above sooner. And, stupid as it is, not recieving the Batelle Scholarship at Otterbein kind of sucked. Not selling Josie sooner.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I don't think so. I had my wisdom teeth removed, though.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I mean, Josie was pretty great. I use my Ipod like crazy. By the real end of 2004, though, it will probably be a new car.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

All of those who tolerated me. Hah.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Three particular boys who shall remain nameless.

14. Where did most of your money go?

My horses.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Mistakenly? London. Justifiably? Scot, Vegas.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?

Oh, wow. I don't know, really. Probably that stupid 'Roses' song because it used to be on the radio all the time Sunday mornings at Arby's.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: happier or sadder?

Happier.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Riding. Reading. Playing. Sitting in the sun.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Work. Procrastinate. Hate. Cry.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Christmas was spent running back and forth between the house I was watching that didn't have any water or electricity and my house. It was pretty crazy, we'd never hosted Christmas before. Christmas night was spent with Scot's family, which was wonderful and welcoming.

21. How will you be spending New Years?

With my mom's family and my beautiful boyfriend at my grandma's house, getting completely smashed and singing karaoke.

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?

Completely.

23. How many one-night stands?

I guess you could say one.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Earlier, ER, but I haven't really watched any TV since this summer.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Unfortunately, yes. But hate is too strong.. refuse to forgive is better.

26. What was the best book you read?

Undoubtedly, still Perks. It's the book I read to bring clarity to my jumbled emotions.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Most of what Scot's introduced me to. Well, and Scot himself, of course.

28. What did you want and got?

A project horse. A place to live outside my home. The right to make my own decisions.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Obviously, Garden State. No contest.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I was 18, and I went to Chicago with the best friend that I have ever had in my entire life. We stayed in a beautiful hotel, spent loads of money, shopped for CLOTHES!, and ate at the fanciest restaurants with my mother and grandmother. It was spectacular, really.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Understanding sooner into a six-month 'involvement' that it wasn't something I needed in my life.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?

Whatever's clean?

34. What kept you sane?

Solo. Friends and acquaintances who have constantly, throughout the year, understood when I just needed to cry and talk a little.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

As always, Edward Norton.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

I'm not really into politics, but the issue of an idiot in the White House did disturb me a little bit.

37. Who did you miss?

As usual, Ryan. Surprisingly, Elyse. Belinda.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

I mean, I can't lie. Probably Scot. Although Aaron is definitely a close runner-up, being one of the only people I've ever met who would genuinely open up their arms and give their time for someone they don't even really know.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004.

To quote Charlie, 'We accept the love we think we deserve.'

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
