If you asked Jaina, her little diplomatic mission had gone very well, overall. She wasn't sure everyone else agreed with her, but she didn't really care what they thought. Her bodyguard, for instance, hadn't said a word until they got back to their ship to leave, and Jaina had flown them offplanet.
And then he said, "You invited the rebels into the meeting," like he still couldn't believe her.
"Yep."
"No one does that."
"I come from a family of rebels. I've been one myself, a few times over," Jaina shrugged. "The ambassador was too nervous to give me any straight answers about what's actually happening, and we were getting exactly nowhere, so why not find out for myself?"
"They were trying to break in."
"I made it so they didn't have to, and I saved the door."
"You threw their weapons across the room without even moving."
"That was just me showing off," Jaina admitted. She hadn't had a lot of opportunities to be a badass lately and it bothered her.
"You ignored all of my advice."
"Yeah, I did," she said, getting more serious. "Look, you have your issues with me, and that's fine. But if I have to trust you, then you have to trust me too, and you should always trust my instincts. If I tell you there's no real danger, there's no real danger. If I tell you we're walking into a trap, then we're walking into a trap. I haven't lived my life for this long by being wrong there."
"The Jedi thing," he inferred.
"Yeps, the Jedi thing. Also, there's one very important thing you have to keep in mind."
"What's what?"
Jaina looked over at him and smiled, "I'm the kriffing empress here, and I'm the one calling the shots."
It was the first time she'd ever felt okay about that.
[NFB, NFI, OOC okay.].
