Imperial Palace- Bastion

Feb 10, 2017 10:29

Jaina had an office now, which was probably a good thing when she was still cranky about yesterday and wasn't much fun to be around. Besides, being stuck out here in a mostly strange place where she cranky didn't know enough about how everything worked meant that she had a lot to research, especially if she was going to be in charge of it. It was ( Read more... )

The Tahiri who wasn't there and privy to all these developments nearly Force-catapulted her comlink across a clearing in surprise when she saw that message.

WaitwhathowWHAT?

Which part is that for, because the answers are VERY different.

Well, I don't need to know how you became a mom, at least. Even if I didn't already know how that works, it would be weird having you explain it. Congratulations though!

The next message took a little longer to send because she was still pretty much stuck on the "what" for the rest of it. Or the second part, anyway.

I'm guessing the empress part has to do with Jag somehow, but I wasn't exactly expecting that.

Thank you.

And then, Long story short, Sith. We either potentially had to let a Sith install a new Imperial leader, or we cut off all avenues to that. We took the non Palpatine route.

Tahiri's sigh was practically audible over the text.

Of course it's Sith. I don't know why I had to ask, really. Are congratulations still in order for that part?

Nooooo. Neither of us is happy about the Empire part. Just stuck with it.

This was followed by another text of many whiny emoji faces, because Jaina didn't use emojis hardly at all, but when she did she was emphatic about it.

Yeah, that was kind of disturbing there, Jaina. Not that Tahiri was going to comment on it.

She was, however, making what could only be described as a O.O face at her comlink.

Yeah, I have to admit that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun. You don't need to go into detail, but I bet the Jedi weren't thrilled.

Nope! Had to resign from the Council but still ask for their help with this mess/to keep up good relations.

And after a second of wondering if she should mention it, she added And my you decided to stick with us, so.

Okay, Tahiri did chuckle a little bit now.

Hey, look at that. I can make good choices sometimes after all. Still, I'm sorry you ended up in that situation.

Oh! Do I get to help spoil the kid later?

You've got a while, there's time! Never thought much about there being stores over there...

Yeah, that would be why I need a head start.

She was pretty sure Amazon wouldn't even deliver interdimensionally over here. Not that she could blame them.

See, this is why I keep a version of you around me at all times these days.

Tahiri burst out laughing right about then. She couldn't help it.

I need to find a version of you to keep around all the time too, then. I could use it, and I miss you.

She also knew plenty enough about how the Solo kids' childhood -- there was a thought that never came without the pang of remembering Jaina was the only one left -- to guess that the combination of points 1 and 2 in the original text made for something of a situation.

Hey, this doesn't mean you're sending messages from somewhere really, really deep in hiding or anything, does it?

Miss you too. And nope, we're living in the palace on Bastion now. Woo.

Okay this might be more impressive to her if she hadn't literally grown up in the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, but she had. So she was unimpressed and also not enjoying the parallels.
