Just a quickie to say that singing was really good tonight. It was Carrie's last proper one with us until the 10th, which is the technical rehearsal, but there is a Wednesday one this week.
We had to do costumes tonight but that was ok; me and Eleanor found a dark, secluded security guard's office down a spooky corridor to change in, since there was a concert in the refectory which meant we couldn't get to the loos! I didn't wear the belt and I didn't put my hair up but nothing was said. Result! Marie didn't look all that well and she only grinned at me once, so flirting went on hold tonight. She looked shattered, poor thing. I would have asked if she was ok but since she was behind the piano the whole time I didn't get a chance.
And we all had loads of fun - we did Grease 3 times though which was pretty exhausting cos the room was boiling hot with no air! We were all dripping sweat and the colour of aubergines, but at least we were all in the same boat! We didn't do the scary poppy song so that was good. Then we changed for the musicals section - time to look sexy instead of dorky! The only problem is, everyone else has nice brown tanned legs whereas mine are STILL white as hell! Lucy's said she will spray me repeatedly before the show though, which is good. Oh and Leanne didn't turn up (again!) so I did the whole of her song! I let myself go and know I did it well... Carrie kept making approving noises throughout, and I did manage the long phrase in one breath, something Leanne can't do. Smug mode. I was slightly miffed that Carrie didn't compliment my outfit, or at least I didn't hear her, but I did catch her admiring my purple heels! Either that or she was wondering how anyone's legs can be that white!
But she completely redeemed herself by saying later on that for the musical theatre class, she has warned Vicky (who's taking us over 13s - Carrie's taking the under 13s) that while we can all sing really well, we are not all pros at dancing! Vicky is a 'crazy dancer' apparently and was threatening to get us all doing huge complicated routines so Carrie has warned her that it aint gonna happen with all of us and to go easy on 'people like Ems who are keen and will try, but may take several goes to get it'. She understands! Praaaaaaise de lord. Apparently Vicky is keen on us doing Chicago which could be brilliant, and Carrie wants us to do Blood Brothers, except Vicky doesn't know the play. But it sounds good anyway, and it doesn't start til November. And Carrie cares... mmm.... *smiles*
By which time, I will hopefully be better at dancing anyway, cos we've found me a one to one teacher! My mum got the name of this woman who does lessons and has a very good reputation. She was very friendly and said that nobody, not even I was unteachable and "of course we can get her dancing!" But she wasn't like "oh, she can't be that bad" - she accepted that I am now, but straight away she said "she needs one to one lessons, a class environment would be too pressured." Eeeexactly. Now this woman doesn't do jazz, only ballet, but her daugher is training to be a dance teacher and desperately needs some really bad students to practise on over the summer holidays! Me! Me! She's only a bit older than me and I'm exactly the sort of student she needs. She gets back from her dance school on friday and then she'll phone us and we'll figure some times and dates to suit us both.
Sorted... (in strong cockney accent)
