Hitchcock's "ROPE." The whole thing was just note-perfect: the dialogue, the acting, the directing, the tension- my stomach still hurts from it. Brilliant.

It's about the "perfect murder" which two intellectual young men attempt to commit, citing the theory of supermen who are above the laws of right and wrong which only apply to lesser men who need such laws. It was probably inspired by the famous Leopold-Leob case, in which two young men from Hyde Park, Chicago, killed a boy for much the same reasons.

I would have to say this is one of the best movies I've ever scene. Why don't more people cite it when listing reasons why Hitchcock was brilliant?
