Five Flicks Heaven.

Here are some movies I'm looking forward to. If they turn out to be rubbish after they've been released, feel free to come back to this post and mock me. Your views will be reflected in my inevitable reviews. I had to change the code on the widescreen trailers to get them to play properly on the page, which is why they might look strange. I haven't figured out how to get rid of the whitespace either, but whatever.

Zombieland: I knew if I waited long enough, the world would go crazy for zombies. And it's happened. I feel as though all those long nights in dingy basements and asthmatic attics discussing the logistics of survival in the event of a zombie holocaust with stoners and weirdos were not entirely wasted. Some zombie movies have a message (the original Dawn of the Dead had a rather obvious anti-consumerist tinge to it), but this one, starring Woody Harrelson, looks like it's just fun. Even the trailer is going for stupid jokes rather than cheap scares:

The Invention of Lying: Let's face it, Ghost Town was shit. The good news is that it wasn't written by Gervais - he just walked around in it (although I don't know if we should have expected more from the guy who wrote the latest Indiana Jones movie). This movie was written at least in part by Gervais himself, which should be an indication of quality. In other good news, it features Louis CK, possibly the most underrated stand-up comedian working today:

Cemetary Junction: Even better than a movie written by Gervais would be a movie written by Gervais and erstwhile Office and Extras collaborator, Stephen Marchant. I don't know anything about this other than what you see in the trailer, but I predict it will be brilliant:

Visioneers: After watching The Hangover, I had to know more about that bearded maniac played by Zach Galifianakis*, and discovered this trailer, in which he appears to be featured prominently. It looks very Charlie Kaufman (even though it's not), so I am suitably intrigued:

Machete: How very postmodern. Robert Rodriguez put this fake trailer together for Quentin Tarantino to put in front of his Grindhouse movie, but it got such a great response, that now it's going to be made into a real movie. After years of fucking around in the shadows, now is Danny Trejo's chance to shine:

* When I Googled this guy for a link, I spelled Galifianakis correctly, but misspelled Zach as "Zack". This is a microcosm of my life.
