Stuff. You know.
Today is the first time since I got back from Tokyo that I'm meeting a human being face to face who isn't a) my husband, b) a student, colleague or shop assistant, or c) 
mec (Mec snuck in there because I was near where she lived for work.) My offline social life, let me show you it.
Unfortunately, I undertook to cook for us. I quite like cooking, but I forgot that it means shopping first. I hate shopping. *sigh*

Ever wanted to know how long it would have taken you to get from Luguvalium to Londinium on a donkey in January? Now you can!
Scotland is terra incognita on that map. I'm not sure yet if that makes me go Bwaaahahaha in childish glee (there is ongoing debate about how far the Romans ever got here) or rather sad that I can't calculate the days it would have taken from Allt na h-Airbhe to Auchtermuchty by camel. In May, with midges.

I joined mydramalist. Because I need another outlet for my OCD-ness, another timesink in my life. I have already found and stalked a couple of you who may as yet be unaware of their great fortune. (Hi,
rheasilvia! Hi vc_mel)!
My main issue is that there's no level between 'average' - which to me is kind of, well normal - and plain out 'bad'. I'm slightly disoriented anyway by a rating system where in a 5-star ranking, 'average' isn't 3 stars but two. That's not what 'average' means, dudes!
And so I'm feeling the lack of a grade which means 'below average but probably objectively not irretrievably sucky'. I feel bad calling things sucky which have some redeeming qualities, just not enough to make me think about them without my eyes rolling up in my head and my tongue lolling out of my mouth in a disgusting and undignified fashion.
But hey, whatever, I didn't invent the system, so now I'm working on overcoming my scruples and if I hated it, it gets one star, even if in fairness I'd admit the acting of that one actor wasn't all bad, or episode 5 didn't suck as much as the other eight, or the thing as a whole had some very funny moments. Grrrr. HACK. SLASH. WHY DO I EVEN WORRY ABOUT THIS???
