Character(s): The whole library crew eventually
Content: herding cats the meeting finally gathers
Setting: The foyer of the library
Warnings: More than one person in a room, so probably angst and yelling at some point
(
Rory had made a general announcement of the meeting. )
Still, Nei seemed to be expecting her to come, so she finally gave a grunt of annoyance and stalked down the stairs, finding all the familiar faces plus one new one. She looked...interesting, to say the least. Like one of those people who lived in the really super religious towns like Saint Lene Carina. It was definitely different, especially among those already there, but Ana sure as hell wasn't about to question it.
She took her place among the group, and made a very, very concerted effort to not look at Rory. She could listen just fine without actively seeing his face.
He began talking, and once again she found his words to be sickeningly right, and even squirmed a little when his gaze landed pointedly on her for several seconds. She could feel it, like a burning on her skin that wasn't a blush.
And then he spoke words that just sat ill in her belly.
We demand our lives back.
There it was again. Wanting to go home, wanting to get their lives back, wanting to be somewhere else. She wanted it too, but every time she considered it, something just wrenched inside of her, a nagging that maybe... just maybe...
She closed her eyes, forcing the thoughts away. There were more pressing things at hand, like surviving, just as he had said, and making it a team effort. That was what she would concentrate on.
Not all those painful thoughts of home...

"It was a military base of some sort, somewhere to the east of here. And unfortunately the only thing I could gather from it is that Solluna obviously had some sort of government or military function before the people vanished. If it was anything like the American forces in my world, then it would have been one of many spread out over a country. But," he shrugged, "That is simply a guess."

"Nei'ess found me after that. We..." he trailed off, thinking back on what had happened. "We found a place to stay in one of the buildings. The beds were still there, but I don't remember much else. I guess there could be something there; even as old as it was, there was some stuff that was still in pretty good shape.
"Ana found us next, and from there, we came here." He glanced away, then, deliberately leaving out his going back to the hospital.

Standing, Nei'ess walked to the middle of the open floor of the foyer and placed his hand against the floor. Black lines radiated from his hand, etching themselves into the floor. It formed a map of all the city that he had touched with his color sensing so far. It was mostly circular, centered on the library and barely reaching out to the fountain. Little bits more were mapped around the fountain and towards the hospital. The library and fountain were outlined in red and markers indicating the general locations of the hospital and military base showed up outside the main map.
Rocking back to sit in his heels, Nei'ess continued. That's how much of the city I've mapped with my magic so far. There was no one inside that area besides Hex when I mapped it, but given the rate of arrivals since, there could be more people in it now. So far people have arrived at the library, fountain, hospital and military base. The entry locations seem to be set. We could post signs for newcomers at those places if nothing else.
He stood up, dusting his pants off and walked back over to his seat. More words appeared as he sat down. Honestly though, I think the first step should be getting to know each other and what we can do. It'll be good to have set jobs since it'll keep us from stepping all over each other or neglecting something important.
I myself, as I've already told some of you, am a Magi, a servant race of mages. Hex agreed to be my master when we met earlier. Most of my magic is visual-based. I can do illusions and see things mostly. I do know some spells, such as the ones I've used for healing and to make the ward on this place. I would like to finish mapping this city and can direct people to best places for scavenging when I do, but really, I'm not a fighter and would probably be much better suited keeping things organized here at home base.

She stopped then, crouching there with a pretend knife in her hand, and looked around at all of them. She indicated herself again, then spread her arms out to include all of them, and then the imaginary carcass on the floor.
With a sigh, hopping she would understand at least some of what she meant, she stepped back next to Tyr, casting kind of a pleading glance at him since he was the only one who had actually seen what she had done outside.

He continued, “As for myself, there is little other than my fighting skills to offer. My senses are sharper than a normal human and I my injuries heal at an accelerated speed. Perhaps I could hunt for food as well, though I will need a better tool for it than my staff.”

"I'm not much of a hunter. Never had to, back where Hex and I come from. But being alchemists, we can make things, clothing, tools, whatever we need. If we've got the materials, we can do it. Also, I'm a fairly decent cook, and I work a lot with plants, so once I get a chance to get to look at the stuff outside and study it a bit, I might be able to get something else edible to grow."
She propped her chin up on her hand, and gestured to the big doors and the houses beyond.
"Also, we found that there's a house here, and might be more, that had some preserved fruits that are still good. Doing some scavaging might not be a bad idea at some point."

He acknowledged the talents one by one, concurring what their respective tasks would be, a small smile in his voice. "Right. Nei'ess, I'd say your preference for placing here is secured, and we'll have to organize a party later to set up the signals at the arrival points. When we get spare time to acquire more animals, Micas can teach us how to handle them, and Hex and An--"
Cut off mid-sentence by a shrill beeping tone, Rory made a visible jerk, drawing his vibrating journal from his pocket, quickly mashing the 'replay' button for all to hear the gentle southern words garbled by the erratic reception.
Greetings, Rory. Your message showed up on our journals as well. I'm Booker Crane and there are now three of us together here at this military base. I don't think we are close enough to attend, even if two of us were not too injured to make the trip anyway. I hope your meeting goes well and I would be interested in at least sharing information when we can.
"I'd say the first scouting mission starts now, guys. Anyone up for a search and rescue?"

... She could speak Latin, she could play piano, she could waltz, she could balance finances... All would be immensely useful here, she was sure. ... She could scout. She could see the city from above... She could hang a sign around her neck that said 'Please shoot me.' As had been demonstrated not an hour earlier, the advance of a 20-foot wingspan tended to inspire aggression.
After Rory's PDA finished its monologue however, Ares chewed on her lip for a moment before deciding. There didn't seem to be hostile natives with the technology to take her out of the air, and if there were only a small number of other people, then statistics were in her favor for not being shot down...
'I can get there fast,' she said quietly, the brim of her hat shadowing her face. 'And I can heal them.'

He looked at Ares. By flying? That's how you got here, isn't it? That would probably be safest and fastest then, especially if you are capable of healing others. I would go myself, as a healer and to map, but I am not fast at all.
Going alone wouldn't be good though. He ran his hand through his hair, thinking. I can send one of my sprites along as a guide and maybe some of the rest of us could follow at a slower pace?
