As the majority of the library inhabitants began to drift away, Tyr quickly noticed one face missing from the group. Where had Micas gone? She had been right beside him a moment ago, he remembered her warm touch on his shoulder; how pleased he had felt when she had nominated him as a representative. His eyebrows lowered in concern as he twisted in his seat to look around, ignoring the presence of those few still lingering in the courtyard.
When his sight failed him, and remembering her skill with invisibility, he took a deep breath through his nose. He held it for a moment, trying to catch her location by smell, but it was no good, her unique scent was all over the area from all the time she has spent working in the courtyard. He had noticed with some worry the other day, that names and pictures had been disappearing from his electronic Journal; it was one of the subjects he hoped to find out more about at the conference. All he could assume was that some arrivals seemed to be disappearing just as quietly and mysteriously as they had arrived here. Now alarmed, he stood from his place by the fire, senses straining. What if… what if that had happened to Micas? What if she was just gone?
Tyr felt a sharp pain in his chest and, without thinking about it, he called out. “Micas? Mi? Where are you?”
