Character(s): Zee, Ani
Content: Trying to restore his calm
Setting: Somewhere roughly northeast of the fountain
Warnings: none so far

The streets were unfamiliar here, but still so much the same. Red and decay, a whole unknown civilization crumbling down. Perhaps this is what old Earth looked like when it was left behind so long ago. The city was not dead though. For all of its emptiness, Zee was still able to feel the simple emotions of the animals who walked its streets and stalked the shadows of each leaning building.

He had slowed to a walk once he could no longer feel the strange woman's voices in his head, but kept going until he could no longer sense any of the people at the fountain at all. It had been a long time since he had felt so much mental peace. The war, working in the factory, being on a civilized planet, those things hadn't given him the chance to just go somewhere uninhabited. He could ignore the feelings of other people, shut them out so they were mere whispers, but seldom this pure silence.

A fallen wall had left some large pieces of concrete jutting out into the street. Zee climbed up and laid down on it, facing the sky in the open and watching the ever-changing red clouds. Around him was another silence, just the wind in the buildings and the occasional skittering of a creature, a haunting roar of life and loss.

Zee closed his eyes and fell into a meditative trance. His aura was up and stable again, this time projecting fear and the need to run away. If any of the creatures got curious, that would send them running again. The peace here was attractive and he drifted off into thoughts and feelings, losing any sense of time.
