When Ana stirred after five minutes or so, a stickiness, still slightly warm, greeted the side of her face where it had pooled and crept beneath. Lifting her head, having to bite back a cry of agony lest anything else desired to make a meal of her was listening nearby, she found her skin had difficulty peeling away from the wooden floor boards, momentarily stuck as it was by the adhesive that was her own blood.

She did free herself, and rose to a sitting position, eyes unfocused and vision tilting this way and that, giving a fun house feel to the house that was not nearly as entertaining as it sounded. Everything in her hurt in some way, be it the absolute and ungodly burning in her arm, the pressure-pain of the break of her bone, or just the pounding behind her eyes.

She was thinking more clearly than she had been, though, and realized as such that she'd made a terrible, terrible mistake. She couldn't make it on her own out there, and regardless of how Rory felt about her and treated her, leaving her brother's side was the worst thing she could have done. How she'd not learned that the past few times she really didn't know or care to analyze. All she knew was that she'd learned her lesson, and she wanted to go 'home'. Back to the library, even if it meant hiding in a room to avoid certain people.

Trembling and awkwardly handed, she patted and dug around until she was finally able to palm her journal from her pocket and withdraw it. The message was short and posted on the public board, hiccuped with unshed tears, and would probably send Hex in to an absolute tizzy the second he heard it, but if nothing else he would come for her.

She had thought to wait there in the house, too, and simply stay right where she'd fallen, but that plan changed almost instantly when scraping, shuffling, and eventually a loud thunk from the high roof above had her panting in fear in just a few seconds, wide, dilated eyes staring at the ceiling. Something was on the roof, and it sounded like it was trying to find a way inside. If it succeeded...-

That was not something she wanted to think about, but unfortunately logic was not completely in check yet, challenged as it was by the haze already in her brain and the desire to pass out again. Swallowing hard, she decided she no longer wanted to be in the house and felt better going outside to keep an eye out for Hex.

It was a struggle to get to her feet, and whatever was trying to get in had become more determined to do so. The house, to her, and become positively deafening, and in another panic she bolted through the door, accidentally slamming in to it first before throwing it open and stumbling out in to the red hue of the street.

Her own noise must have attracted the creature trying to get inside. Something let out a terrible sound from the roof, and as she turned, balance compromised slightly, a skull-headed bird hopped up to the pointed peak of the roof, head tilting in hungry curiosity. An exhausted, weary and fearful groan left Ana then.

Why was it everything in this damn world wanted to have her for lunch?
