Startled by the sound and voice, Ahime jerked straight and promptly tried to banish the tears, succeeding for the time being. She sniffled and quickly rubbed the sleeve of her baggy cardigan over her eyes and face, turning with a clearly faked smile on her stained features.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine," she managed, though her voice cracked and betrayed even more. She'd been trying to hard to remain strong, to not let Katsu see that she was suffering just as much as he was, but it had been so forced that she hadn't realized just how much she was suppressing. It was like shoving a full beanbag in to a tiny round only an inch deep, and the break had been threatening for quite some time.

Still, she let the sickeningly fake smile remain and walked towards him, intending to leave the room, though it was obvious how badly she was dragging even physically.

"I'm surprised you're up so early. Ahwell, probably for the best. We should start scouting other areas in the next few days. We're running out of stuff here, at least in the areas we can access and- ... what?"

Her pace had halted just before him, along with her words as she realized he was staring at her, something almost pitying in his tired eyes. Even Absol was looking at her like he knew there was more going on than she was letting out.

"... why are you guys looking at me like that?" she asked again, tone wavering some.
