This past Tuesday morning, I was walking along my usual shortcut through Green Lake Park to catch my bus to school. I saw it come around the bend and took off running. Fortunately, I caught the bus. Unfortunately, my Mp3 player fell out of my bag while doing so. By the time I realized, it was too late to go back.
That evening, I retraced my steps on the way home back from school. Mp3 player was long gone. It's a very high traffic park that is also very large. There was no telling where it could have gotten to, either on purpose or accidently.
Two days later, I decided to take a long shot and post a "missing mp3" player ad in the craigslist Lost&Found.
Today, somebody replied back and said I should call the Green Lake Community Center as they have a lost&found. I did not know about the community center or its lost&found- turns out it was the big building about a half mile from where my bus stop is.
Going even further out on a limb, I call this morning. I describe the mp3 player to the guy. He goes looks and comes back and asks me about the area code of my cell phone I'm calling from. I tell him I live in Seattle now, but that it's a Houston number. He says "Well I don't know about the people in Houston, but the people in Seattle are honest. We've got it here!"
Yep, 5 days later and half a mile away, it came back. I love the Universe I live in, and just as much, I love Seattle.
