The suck that is family video & the magical sword-weilding firecrotch
Like Rob, I had placed my order for Heavenly Sword at FamilyVideo.com for the price they were offering it seemed like a great deal at the time. After several months/weeks went by the game looked less promising from the media reviews, after some discussion I thought the game was not worth $45 that familyvideo was charging. So I did what any sane person does at this point with buyers remorse. Cancel the order, it had not shipped yet so there shouldnt have been an issue...
I made the mistake of emailing them to cancel my order two weeks ago. I got a response promptly saying my order cancellation would be forwarded to the shipping department. I would be receiving my order cancellation confirmation shortly according to the email response. After several weeks I forgot about this and took it for granted that the order was infact canceled. I check my inbox today and see that my order of Heavenly Sword has finally been shipped. I though to myself "Wow, Rob is gona be pissed to hear I got my copy before him, and I am not even supposed to have it being shipped to me."
So since its already left their facilities via media mail there is no real way they can halt the delivery process. I will simply wait till I receive the item and then dispute it over the phone with my credit card to deny the charges (no wonder familyvideo doesnt take Amex, its always a bad sign when someone doesnt take American Express.) If I should return it to familyvideo or not is another matter on its own, unless they can reimburse my shipping costs I find it unlikely that I will be returning this piece of shit. On the plus side there is finally a game I can play on my PS3. On the negative I paid more than the game is worth intrinsically to me.
I believe by law whatever is sent to me I have no obligation to return, and becomes my property, but I will have to check on this. If I can fuck familyvideo as hard as they have fucked me on this order I will be satisfied. I dont think I will even play the game the week I get it due to Halo 3 and the LSAT.
