...so here's where mine begins. Sitting down on my lunch break here in beautiful Camp Bucca, Iraq, and getting started on this whole Live Journal thing. Couple of my friends got me interested in the idea, and all in all, I figure it's a good way to keep track of where I've been and where I intend to go.
So far things here have been pretty decent...other than the boss (who given her propensity for micro-management would dictate the color of our underwear if she could) and my roommate (who is the unit's brainless wonder, and here of late, judging by the FUNK that seems to be rolling from his end of the room, has developed an aversion to personal hygiene). Other than that (and the fact that this is a dry...NO ALCOHOL...country) I can't really complain to much. Good food, good training, good friends...hell, I've even gotten the ball rolling on resuming my college courses. You see, I'm working towards a teaching degree in high school level social sciences so when I retire from the Army at the ripe old age of 38...I won't go stir crazy sitting at home doing nothing. Well, that and I'll be able to rake in the dough with a double retirement pension after a stint of teaching.
So yeah. That's where I'm at now. My dear old Uncle Sam gave me a paid vacation to a big ass beach with no water (where I get to collect my tax free paycheck, plus the extra 325 dollars a month for hazardous duty pay) where there's nothing but fun in the sun.
...now if only this shift would get over so I can go catch up on sleep missed do to a taxing double shift of the boss flexing her micro-management skills.
