more dreams

I had a kinda scary dream last night. In this dream I was in an isolated house. The area was sort of swamp/foresty, but at a high elevation, and near an abandoned research installation. There were some sort of nuclear/biological waste canisters, and I remember one of them breaking open for some reason. As a result, there was a spreading zone of contamination, in which animals would hideously mutate and become violent, intelligent zombies. First it affected insects. I remember some small worm or catapillar-like creature grown to the size of a cucumber, with sharp spikes growing from its body, and a large mouth full of sharp teeth. You had to stomp carefully or they'd rip a bite out of your foot. There was also an encounter with some spiders, but for some reason I had a light shotgun to take care of them. They weren't very big, just the size of large tarantulas, and it seemed like overkill to shoot them as they came crawling out of the bushes.

Then came the dogs.
They were built like hyenas, with small hindquarters and powerfully muscled bodies, covered in bristling, black, spine-like fur. Their shoulders were so muscular their necks were almost indestinquishable from their bodies. Their heads seemed to be mutated into a huge mouth full of fangs longer than my fingers, with tiny red eyes full of hate. For some reason I knew they could talk, though I don't remember them talking to me. My encounter with them involved me trapped in a small house, constantly patrolling the doors and windows to make sure they stayed locked.

These escalating conflicts reached a climax somewhere in the abandoned research facility, but the details are hazy. The mutating contamination had reached humans at that point.

At another point, I'm not sure if it was connected to the previous plotline, I was in a car with axo driving. We were speeding down a steep winding mountain road, surrounded by glittering black lava fields. Axo took a corner too fast, and the car jumped the guardrail and vaulted into the air over an enormous crater. We both screamed profanity at the realization of our impending deaths. The car fell for a really long time, giving me enough time to decide my chances of survival would be better if I took my seatbelt off, then change my mind and put it back on again. Amazingly, when the car landed, it first hit a slope that perfectly matched the arc of our fall, so that the car slid to a stop at the bottom with nothing more than tire damage and a scraped undercarriage. I remember Axo expressing happiness over being able to see his girlfriend again, and I was happy for him.
