Everything Comes From the Goddess

I am discovering slowly that statement is true. I know humans come from the mothers (duh!) but...well here let me explain better...

I used to think that the tallest trees would be the ones to get new leaves first because they are closer to the sun and therefore could get more energy and photosynthesis would be easier etc. However, this year I've become a much closer observer of nature. I've taken up bird watching and I'm trying to learn to identify a few of the local plants. But a few weeks, maybe a month ago, I noticed something. It wasn't the tallest trees that got their new leaves first. It was the ones closest to the ground. Matter of fact, when some of the shorter trees leaves were fully bloomed, the taller trees still had barely any buds. This for a moment, shocked me. The trees closer to the ground can sometimes be shaded by those that are taller than them, even when the taller ones don't have leaves. So I started wondering why did the shorter trees get their leaves first? I still haven't come up with a definitive answer but the theory I'm tossing around in my head is this:

The shorter trees are closer to the ground and therefore can draw up nutrients from the soil faster. It doesn't take as long for the nutrients to reach the branches where the leaves will grow.

Now this theory might come from the fact that I am reading through an Ecology text book and it was recently talking about the nutrients (or lack thereof) in the soil of the rainforest. And it made me think about the nutrients in the soil around my area. Perhaps that, not only the sun, is what makes the leaves grow faster on the shorter trees.

This is related to Wicca because there's a saying that everything comes from the Goddess and that the Earth is our Mother (Mother Earth). This is proven in the order that the trees get their leaves as stated above. I have always believed that statement was true (everything comes from the Goddess) after all, a man cannot bear children. Even in the Christian religion, Mary gave birth to Jesus not God. Only a woman can actually give birth but it takes a man and a woman to create life.

I have also been reading "The Witches' Bible" by the Farrars lately and they explained it that the sun fertilizes the Earth with His rays. This makes perfect sense to me. Nothing can grow in the dead of winter when we get very little light or warm temperatures. Scientists are amazed that there are plants in the depths of the oceans that survive without sunlight or little sunlight. Once again, the balance and equality of woman and man in shown in nature. She has so much to teach us and we only need to open our eyes and ears to learn Her lessons. It takes the light from the sun combined with the nutrients of the Earth in order for plants to grow just as it takes a man's sperm and a woman's egg to create life.

***Note: Sorry if the last part of that offends some people. Also I would like to note that this post does not mean I am against the GBLT community. Matter of fact, I am a member of it myself and I think they should have equal rights to the "straight" people. That being said have fun discovering other lessons of nature ^_^
