Addendum: Mostly I think it comes down to the fact that I just can't deal with this kind of religious fanaticism, even on a fictional level. I'd like the show a lot better if there were less talk about the One True God.
[ETA: Interesting question, though. If Baltar preaches monotheism arguing that the 'old gods' didn't intervene or help because they don't exist, and now and we're watching this after a couple of millennia of Christian monotheism, but still struggling with the very same problem-does this make the show effectively atheist after all?]
