12. Brian/Michael (QaF:US)

Two Ships I'm Curious About
13. Jack/Ianto (Torchwood)
14. Berger/Claude (Hair - the Milos Foreman movie)

1. Why do you dislike #11 so much?
Strangely enough, I read quite a bit of fic before I really started watching Buffy. Once I did, however, I couldn't see at all where the popularity of this ship came from. And the Buffy bashing is really unpalatable in that particular corner of fandom.

2. Who is someone you know that ships #13?
At a glance at my friendslist, rivier and mawombat.

3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3 (even if the show isn't on the air anymore)?
Honestly? I liked the Buffy finale. A happily ever after for these two was always highly unlikely, and if a guy heroically sacrifices himself for the woman he loves and the world in general he should be allowed to stay dead. ::is still bitter about The Girl In Question:: which was such an anticlimatic epilogue to the Spike/Buffy arc.

4. Which is your favorite episode for #1? Try to pick just one.
Deep Down, if I had to pick just one. See the favourite tv moments meme for elaboration. Although I might make a case for Inside Out, just on the strength of the 'Why should you care what happened to her?' 'Because you did.' moment.

5. How long have you been following couple #6?
The first QaF episode I saw, early S1, at the end of the episode, when Brian is dancing with those two guys in Babylon and Justin, who has stalked him all day, gets that look of determination, takes off his shirt, tosses it aside and walks down the stairs to the dancefloor, among the glitter and lights and music. The one thing Qaf has always done extremely well are the 'silent' last scenes of the episodes with only the images overlaid with a song, and this is not an exception.

6. What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring?
Eh. We all knew how it was going to end, and I was never in it for the fluffy HoYay! moments of S1, for me it was always about the ambiguities, possibilities and choices, the similarities between the characters, power, good, evil and the shades in between. And, all right, about Lex. A lot. I just wish they'd handled it a little better and more satisfactory, not just letting Lex slip-slide into evilness in such a profoundly frustrating fashion. I'll still read fic occasionally, but the S5 DVDs have been lying around for months and I still haven't touched them.

7. Which ship do you prefer - #2 or #4?
2. All the way. They're not really comparable at all and I'm not sure I even like 4., I'm just strangely fascinated.

8. You have the power to make one ship non existent. Choose from #10 or #12.
Non existent in canon? 10., because 12. only exists int he minds of the fans anyway, IMO. The whole point of the show (as opposed to the UK version) was that Michael would get over his crush on Brian and get a life of his own.

9. What interests you about #14?
Sacrifice and lost chances. What happened to Claude afterwards. How do you live with the knowledge of someone having died for you. And would someone else even see this ship?

10. When did you stop liking #7?
When Mulder left and Scully was turned into the grieving widow without a life of her own. The man leaves the show and suddenly everything turns around him even more than before? She bears his child - alone, she has to make the awful decision to give away the child for his own safety - alone, and when they meet again, he doesn't even ask her what she wants to do, just turns the car away from what small chance for safety they have and heads south. (And never mind all the people who put their careers, if not their lives on the line to give you that chance.) The Truth, yadda, yadda, yawn. And this is really not the time to snuggle on motel beds, when The Evil Conspiracy is most likely about ten minutes away from kicking down your door. ::deep breath:: Can you tell I'm still angry? ;) I was shipping Scully/Reyes out of protest during those seasons. Scully/Skinner.

[soavezefiretto? Don't defriend me? Pretty please?]

11. Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show?
Not really. I thought the first two books were very slashy indeed, but then the subtext just evaporated for me. I still read all but the last two and a half, and what ultimately put me off was the rambly narrative style, not the lack of shippiness.

12. What's a song that reminds you of #5?
None, really. Would have to be something dramatic and classical.

13. Which of these ships do you love the most?
It's a tie between 1. and 2. John/Delenn is so perfectly done in canon, it doesn't really leave anything open, or to be desired. Love, romance, sacrifice, very interesting relationship dynamic. A series finale that reduces me to tears every single time.

What fascinates me about Wesley/Angel is what JW managed to do with Wesley over the seasons from the moment he stumbled into the series in S1, rogue vampire hunter and Angel wannabe, how the relationship with Angel changes and progresses, until despite - or maybe because of - the horrible events of S3 at the end of S4 Wesley is the one Angel treats with the most respect and most like an equal. And misses most after the mind-wipe.

I just love Wesley a lot, and Wesley/Lilah probably should have made it to the list, except that I'm not really interested in them beyond canon.

14. Which do you dislike the most?
Couldn't say. I don't really spend much time pondering my dislikes. As far as canon goes I disliked the saccharineness of Angel/Cordy in S3, and what falling in love with Angel did to Cordelia's character, because I used to like her.

15. If you could have any of these two pairings double date, who would it be? (even better if they're from different shows)
13. & 6. Jack and Brian? I've read that cross-over. That could turn into a different kind of double date pretty fast, depending on how inclined Ianto would be to share.

Or, even better. 13. & 1. Angel and Jack could moodily bond over the whole undead thing, and Ianto and Wesley over girlfriends killed by their respective bosses/colleagues.

16. Have #2 kissed yet? Elaborate if you'd like.
In various wonderfully romantic and narratively original ways.

17. Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely?
Not so much, no. Really, really not.

18. What would make you start shipping #13?
I'm more than half-way there already, and maybe they should be in group one, but at the moment the canon treatment is a little problematic for me. I'm not a writer, I don't really like the blank spaces to be filled by imagination, at least not so many of them. I prefer to have a little more (not necessarily romantic) on-screen relationship development for my ships. And I'm a little wary about their future, or lack thereof, given Jack's departure and a couple of vague hints from TPTB. But then, if you'd asked me at the end of AtS S3 if I thought Wesley and Angel would ever be on speaking terms again, I wouldn't have foreseen S4 either.

19. If only one could happen, which would you prefer - #2 or #6?
Sorry, but 2. I'm feeling kind of heterosexist here, but B5 is simply the far better show and the one I'm much more invested in; QaF has never been much more than a guilty pleasure with an increasing amount of fast-forwarding as the seasons progressed. And breaking up Sheridan and Delenn is just sacrilege.

20. You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them?
Cordelia remains more of her earlier, snarkier self and doesn't turn into long-suffering saint before being possessed by evil. I wouldn't even mind Angel/Cory so much then. It's not the ship, it's the way it was handled on screen.
