Think it may be time to consider a new knife. The steel's worn pretty thin on mine and it's not holding its edge for more than a few skins, even with honing. I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another Pity I was on the trail or I could have checked the merchants' stalls during the festival. Though honestly, I'm not sure if I want to replace ( Read more... )

You must be a hardworker to be in need of a new blade. But it sounds to me like it would be easier to just get a new knife.

I've had this one for years, so it's no surprise the blade's worn down. The handle's sentimental, I guess. Would rather keep it if it can be salvaged.

Ah, I see. Is it possible to switch the blade without damaging the handle?

That's what I'm hoping, but I'll need to talk to the blacksmith to be certain.

I could reccommend one if you don't already have one in mind. Many of my friends speak highly of their work.

Don't really have one in mind, so I'm open to suggestions, sure.

It's called the Pointe on the edge of the western market. If members of the Guard speak highly of it, I imagine they must be doing something right.

I hope they're able to accomodate you as well.

Hm, I've heard of it... Though if the Guard frequent, it might not be the best choice I'll look into it. Thanks.

Not a problem. If the price the quote seems unreasonable though you could always look at the Silver Dart. It's on the opposite end of the city but they seem to do good business and cater more to everyone. However, I can't vouch for the quality.

Heh, yeah. From what I know of the Pointe, quality work costs a pretty coin. Heard of the Dart too, actually. Not normally a side of the city I'm on, but to get this blade fixed properly, I'll have to make the extra trip.

Well if you end up going to the Pointe, tell them that Oshitari sent you. My family does enough business with them that they may be inclined to offer you a discount.

Like I said, it's no problem. Being a game hunter sounds quite intriguing and important. So it wouldn't do for you to have faulty tools.

I can't say I have any experience with it. Though I would imagine that a sharper knife would make most tasks simpler. My cousin once spent an entire afternoon explaining in fine detail why it was important to keep a knife clean and honed to a sharp edge at all times. He even poked me with one when I started nodding off halfway through the lecture.

... You mean you actually paid attention? Well, sorta, lazy jackass. You kept falling asleep. Yeah, well, I he has a point. 's much easier to work with a sharp blade and the cuts are cleaner.
