Edward said no because (he thought) he didn’t need the companionship. A girl would just be another tedious ebb of uninvited thoughts clouding his already fragile mind.
Rosalie said no because (he didn’t say yes) she finds pleasure in being the only one who can say yes or no. It’s her world, people. We just live in it.
As unyielding as Edward fancies himself to be, he did give in eventually. He heard her frenzied thoughts screaming before she reached their property. She was holding a bloody, muscled mess three times her size, with her hair unkempt and her clothes dirty.
Why did I ever refuse her? he asked himself. Oh, yeah…
