Bar None

Mar 29, 2008 07:42

The results are in. There are so many numbers floating around: 14%, 5% 23%...apparently the passing rate for this year's bar examinations are insanely low. Or rather, apparently Dean Pangalangan's reliance on American jurisprudence may have gotten the best of a good number of the barristers.

Ah, well. It's moments like these that make me realize that law school is just a step in the right direction. And the operative phrase in that sentence is just a step.  It's the path to something great, that hopefully I will be given the privilege to tread upon.  So, better get cracking. According to almost-Dean Leonen's blog (congratulations, Dean! he assumes the position on May 1), he's expecting the members of the UP Law community to know their provisions more, provide legal arguments with structure and finesse, and lead the way in meaningful discussions of the law. Hopefully, we will graduate and pursue the legal profession with that in mind.

Congratulations to all UP Law examinees, and to our topnotchers (I still don't know who they are, all I know is tatlo sila). Congratulations to those who made the cut, no matter what school you may be from. To those who were unable to pass...it's another year of learning to love the law all over again. Congrats to Alpha Sigmans Emil Ocfemia, Darrell Sampang and C2005's Ed Lim for making the cut! In all endeavors, brods, the mark of excellence indeed.

And, watch this space for UP Law Bar Operations 2008! It's going to be phenomenal.

(Oh, and we're not done with our written finals just yet. My last entry was premature. And it's Earth Hour, not Day. Eejot.)
