Some observations:
1) I voted at the Student Lounge at around 4 PM. Ballots, as I remember, are given in successive order and their number is based on the number of ballots released so far. As of around 4 PM, only 204 ballots had been released, based on my ballot number. And to think that voting had already been open since 8 AM. Maybe that's why fellow law students JV La Chica (Alyansa), Mini Bernardo (Kaisa) and Cris Yambot (STAND-UP) failed to make it this year, and why Marian Panganiban lost despite Third Bagro winning. Baka marami nang prof sa Malcolm ang nagpapaexam na uli.
2) I really want a copy of the voter's turnout page. Rye, based on the calculations, was #1 in Stat, where their ballot actually printed his name as "Rye" on the actual ballot. If all the ballots had the "Rye" printed, maybe he could have clinched an even higher position. Ah, well. Spilt milk.
3) Every year, the results will always be surprising. This year is no exception.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations to all the brods, friends, blockmates, sisses, tropa and voters who supported Rye, giving him a clear and compelling mandate to lead the students and to serve with all his passion and vigor. Trust me; this is only the beginning. It has been a while since an independent candidate has commanded such a mandate, and
I will plead the Fifth on the results first, since there were people that brods and I voted for who did not make it to the seats I would have given to them.
And now that election fever is over, congratulations to all the winners, student-leaders-elect, et al. Congratulations to Third, Airah, and the Centennial USC that they will be leading together. Congratulations to all who ran; by offering yourselves to the students as potential leaders, you have already commanded a convincing victory.
To all victors and aspirants, let the sound and fury signify something.
