Blinky: So? Tell me what happened.
Steve: Well, I'm no legal scholar, but it looked to me like Solies' trial was going rather well. Near the end, I saw Solies lean over and whisper something to his lawyer.
Massachusetts district court 3. The honorable Judge Macroman presiding.
Solies: (leans over to whisper in Screech's ear) Psst! I have to use the Little Programmer's Room.
(Screech gestures with his thumb toward the exit. Solies exits the courtroom.)
Judge: Does the district attorney have anything further to add in this case?
D.A. No, your honor.
Judge: And the defense?
Screech: SCREECH! (stands, and bows elegantly) Your honor, the defense rests.
Judge: Well, it is this court's opinion that the state has failed to prove its case against Mr. Solies, having only provided circumstantial evidence against him.
There is much murmering in the courtroom. Lena and Emma hug happily.
Judge: For this reason the court finds Mr. Solies NOT G...
Screech: SCREECH! Your honor?
Judge: (annoyed) Yes? What is it?
Screech: At this point in time, Mr. Solies would like to change his plea.
Judge: Ch... ch... change his plea?
Screech: Yes your honor. Mr. Solies would like to plead guilty of all charges.
Judge: That's ridiculous. I was about to find him not guilty.
Screech: I'm sorry, your honor. But those are his wishes. (Reaches into vest pocket) He handed me this note just before he fled the courtroom.
Judge: He fled?
Screech: Yes, your honor. (reads the note without actually looking at it) "I, Solies, do hearby confess to defrauding the credit card company and throw myself at the mercy of the idiotic court presided over by that moronic judge. I would also like to add that Mr. Screech has been a victim in this entire affair, and none of my inexcusable behavior should be considered a bad reflection upon him. Again. I did it. And you'll never take me alive."
There are gasps in the courtroom.
Judge: (banging his gavel) Well! That certainly puts things in a new light. This court finds Mr. Solies guilty in absentia of all charges! Bailiff! Issue an arrest warrant for Mr. Solies! This court is adjourned.
Screech: Your honor?
Judge: What is it now?
Screech: Does this courtroom have a side exit that I can use?
Steve: And that's exactly what happened.
