A Separate Reality

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was a pretty good movie. Unlike false claims of movies like Blair Witch, Emily Rose was based on a real case in the 70's. The real girl's name was Anneliese Michael and the exorcists of which there were two were sentenced to six months in jail. Also the original case took place in Klingenberg Bavaria not the US. The whole movie approached the possession phenomena from an interesting angle and I found it to be a very well done film. I especially enjoyed that it got so much of it's demonology lore correct. It was very well researched in my opinion. It's rare to see a film like that about the paranormal as most just jump to the easy blatant gory angle that is uncommon in the real paranormal world.

Last night on the way home, Brad and I were talking to Andy about exorcism and possession. We told him about the experiences of M.Scott Peck M.D. with exorcism and how it changed his views. Andy jokingly asked if it had killed him. Brad and I chuckled and said no he's still alive and probably writing more books. When i got home I got an email from Brad who we had dropped off first. M. Scott Peck died...That very day. What are the odds eh?

The prosecuting attorney did spread a little misinformation in his "facts" most noteworthy was the claim that humans have two sets of vocal chords which is completely untrue. It is true that if properly trained, vocal chords can produce two separate stable notes at the same time one being very low, but it takes a lot of practice to just sustain it let alone speak with it without specific training. A combination mix between glottal fry and modal singing chord frequencies are only one octave apart and of course could not say two different things at the same time. Sure it is probable that someone in a possession scenario is using this natural ability of the voice by discovery and force but to say that humans have two sets of vocal chords is completely false.

After all was said and done, I had bad dreams last night. Not dreams about spirits or creepy stuff. That would have been cool. Instead they were dreams about failed past relationships, betrayal, inadequacy and failure. Personally I'll take demons at 3am any day.

In Elysia news, I managed to pick up another binder and good laser paper for the next printing of the game.
Pat and I will be working on it tonight.
