nottheworsthing In 1944, the year after Steve Rogers crashes his plane into the Arctic, Agent Peggy Carter is recommended by Howard Stark for a new experimental formula known as the Infinity Formula. The serum dramatically stunts the ageing process, essentially leaving Agent Carter immortal, although it requires annual doses of the serum to continue the effects. Warned that without it, she would deteriorate rapidly, she is convinced (in part, once again, by Stark) to begin working for S.H.I.E.L.D.
Seventy years later, and she is still there. Now ninety four, Agent Peggy Carter is one of - if not the oldest S.H.I.E.L.D. agents still active in duty, though she hasn't aged a day. She's a high ranking agent, but has no real desire to climb the corporate ladder. She's happy where she is, with enough field work and little enough paperwork to keep her pleased. She's still fighting the good fight, even if the enemies faces may have changed.
