On top of that, all these green plants are a nuisance to some people. If you stand under them with someone, you have to kiss them. If you don't, they give you a bit of a zap.

Usually. In some countries they can be used as greeting, though. In others, part of social tradition. It depends on the culture and how much intimacy is attached to it.
