The political situation is that politics is basically non-existent here.

How frightening... Without a strong Government I can only assume people have formed factions?

I wouldn't even call it that. There are people that closer to each other than others, but... Basically, it seems to come down to those who want to do whatever the hell they want, and those who actually want to try and do something about the mess this place is in.

No Government. No Factions. Are there any leaders, even?

A dire dire situation indeed. How is it that this place has not succumbed to total barbarity?

Ha, no. There's a large number of people who think the idea of having any kind of leadership is ridiculous and never going to work. It's ridiculous.

...Clearly you've been lucky recent events, then. I'd say it's pretty close to being that about, oh, half of the time.

So this truly is a cross-section of several worlds melded into one. People surviving day to day instead of living. No one to guide them but instinct and the barest frame of morals.

Does no one try to at least prod people towards a general direction? Are we some twisted social experiment?

Twisted social experiment is probably close.

People try but if no-one's going to listen and they're going to jump on you, and slam you for even trying, then it's not difficult to see why nothing's happened yet, particularly when those who don't seem to want any kind of structure are in the majority. Yet, of course, everyone complains when things are going wrong because there is no structure. It's pathetic.

Spoken like someone with a sense of Justice and Order. I can understand that frustration and it is rather disheartening.

Though it can of course be predicted, since personalities and values are guaranteed to clash.

...I guess. Thanks, though. It's been more frustrating recently, so, I guess you could say it's something of a sore spot.

Yeah, but it's the same within all societies, isn't it? To be convinced that something is doomed from the start of course means that nothing is ever going to change. Which means that the people who refuse to do anything but complain, have no right to complain. They're doing nothing to make sure that their values are going to have any impact on anything.

Oh, since you introduced yourself, I suppose it's only right that I do the same. Shinji Mimura, it's nice to meet you.

A pleasure to meet you, Shinji sir. At least in this odd land there are those of us who share a similar mind when it comes to trying to better the lives of people as a whole.

Those who voice dissent should not do so unless they are willing to change it, but not every personality is so willing and honorable.

There's absolutely no need for the 'sir'. It feels a bit weird to have it used in reference to me. It'd be disappointing if the numbers of such people were even less than they are now.

Unfortunately that personality type seems to be the most common here.

So long as there are but a few people willing to make a change, change is possible, Shinji.

Thank you for taking the time to speak to me and I hope if the situation arises, I may lend you a helping hand.

Oh, of course.

It's no problem, and thank you.
