Quick and dirty rundown of the 1st semi finale, starting in 5 minutes:
1. Montenegro: Rambo Amadeus - Euro Neuro
I LOVE it but I doubt it will reach the final. Great song (well... song-related... thing) IMO
2. Iceland: Greta Salome & Jonsi - Never Forget
I love that one too. I didn't at first as it's very cheesy but seriously, this should make it to the final!
3. Greece: Eleftheria Eleftheriou: Afrodisiac
Well, it's not bad. Not enough OPA, though. It will probably make it to the final due to Greece and Cyprus being in the same SF for once =D
4. Latvia: Anmary - Beautiful Song
Zzzzz...
5. Albania: Rona Nishliu - Suus
Hate it. Everyone else loves it. I cannot fathom why, I really can't with this song ><;;
6. Romania: Mandinga - Zaleilah
Balkan-Pop that sounds more Spanish than the Spanish entry. I just can't get the thought of Mandingo out of my head *yuck*
7. Switzerland: Sinplus - Unbreakable
And unremarkable. You should leave electro-rock to the Japanese.
8. Belgium: Iris - Would You?
Would I what? Keel over from the boringness? Um... yes?
9. Finland: Pernilla Karlsson - När jag blundar
Not that bad for a Scandinavian ballad. Not nearly as good as Iceland, though.
10. Israel: Izabo - Time
There are sooo many good singers and groups in Israel, from Mizrahit to Folk Metal. Why on earth do they always have to choose people like that? *siiigh*
11. San Marino: Valentina Monetta - The Social Network Song
And Ralph Siegel once again enters the stage through the back door. But seriously, this is awful. Also: Mediterranean Dwarf States never have a chance, that's been an iron rule since 1974.
12. Cyprus: Ivi Adamou - La La Love
Cyprus last year ruled so damn hard! This is... nice. And boring. It will also probably make it to the final due to Greece being in the same SF.
13. Denmark: Soluna Samay - Should've Known Better
Me too, not to expect something not!horrible from Denmark ~_~
14. Russia: Buranowskiye Babushki - Party For Everybody
Did you know they sing in the Udmurt language? Neither did I. Not that it makes the song better, though. Clear contender for a position in the final.
15. Hungary: Compact Disco - Sound Of Our Hearts
Forgettable. But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's good enough that it doesn't stand out as OMGKILLIT!
16. Austria: Trackshittaz - Woki mit deim Popo
I doubt anyone north of the Danube can understand them but don't worry, you're not missing anything ><;; What were they thinking when they chose them? Oh, wait, probably the same thing as the Germans when they chose Roman Lob.
17. Moldova: Pasha Parfeny - Lăutar
Do they even have any other kind of music?
18. Ireland: Jedward - Waterline
Not as good as last year but still better than most of this horror cabinet.
My predictions: Russia will make it to the final, definitely, so will Romania and probably Albania. Possible chances, too, for Ireland and Iceland. Cyprus probably too, maybe Israel and Finland. I hope Montenegro - best song of the evening!
Edit: For once, I'm happy to announce that all but one of my favourites made it to the final!!! And, I mean, it doesn't come as a great shock that Montenegro didn't. I'm sort of pleasantly surprised that Iceland did, as well as both, Greece and Cyprus; no surprise with Ireland and Russia; some of the ones I hate made it, too, but that's alright. I mean, Sweden or Italy will win anyway and that'll be great. After the horror that was last year I'm not picky anymore *lol*
