This is why we can't have nice things :/

Work has been eating my life for weeks now. Sometimes I feel like I'm caught in a loony bin. SO MANY CRAZIES! AND MY BOSS IS THE WORST OF ALL! No, really, for example, today we had to use a 2 litre bottle of (shaken) mineral water to douse the stove because he managed to set the plastic rack for the dishes on fire. Apparently it had been standing on the hot plate in the back, the one he accidently switched on instead of the one in the front in order to make scrambled eggs. And don't start me talking about our crazy clients. Maybe I really start some sort of "Loon Of The Week" entry here. I know, technically it's forbidden but who of our clients would ever read MY LJ? *lol* I mean, I can still f-lock it.

And am I really the only one who doesn't really care about the FB/Twitter-thing? It's not like there isn't a way around it. It can be done with simple CSS and, frankly, I only took the buttons out because they annoy me and fuck up my layout. People who really, really, seriously want their privacy safe 100% shouldn't use FB at all, it's that simple. They also shouldn't have a gmail-account and an ICANN-registered domain. Or they should only be active in fandoms which are very obscure in their country (like yours truly). Wow, that was fast. I lol'd.

So they decided that no one buys their DVDs, not because they license shitty stuff and try to sell 3-episode-DVDs for prices you pay for whole seasons of other series (seriously, I paid as much for each of my Babylon 5 boxes as I'd have to pay for a single NGE DVD), no, of course the evil fansubbers and uploaders are the real culprits. So they founded an "Alliance" (page only in German but you don't miss anything) to counteract this and the funniest thing is that on their webpage everyone can rat out fansubber-pages, forums and OCH-links using a convenient dropdown-menue. For a bonus, of course (apparently those who rat out the most people get a free DVD). And you know what's the worst thing about this all? IT SEEMS TO WORK! No, really, apparently there are really people out there informing them about fansubbers and where they store stuff. I mean, actually it doesn't really affect me because I never downloaded a German fansub in my life but, seriously, that Stasi-strategy works :/ I feel deeply ashamed for the people whose passport I happen to share. I mean, if you don't like the German fansubbing scene and you seriously think that the demise of some German anime labels is the subber's fault instead of their *lol* licensing policies, alright, that's your right as a citizen of the European Union. But do you have to go then and happily tell the self-proclaimed German-internet-anime-police about it? People make me sick sometimes.

I mean, for example, I admit that I disapprove of scanlations of (most) licensed series. I don't read them, at least not if the official releases aren't several years behind (like they used to be in Tsubasa) and I don't point others to the sources, even if they ask me. But I wouldn't even think about running to the publishers and whine to them that this-and-this-scanlation-group are working on their series! Never! This is totally sick :(

But, yeah, at least the whole affair had one positive aspect: I found out that the Tsubasa-OAVs are not only licensed in Germany, they are also out on DVD already. Wow. *orders* (and there's a German dub. WTFLOL?!)

lj, rants, unpopular opinions, rl, fandom, job, meta, anime, wtf
