My brother and I have convinced our family that in lieu of getting them gifts, we'll just be responsible for Christmas dinner. My brother wanted to do steaks and I would have happily agreed, but the family wants a more "traditional" holiday meal (turkey, stuffing, ham, etc.)
Beyond the benefits of keeping our frustrating step-father out of the kitchen, I'm also thinking the meal will be far better than what it usually is. I half prepared Thanksgiving dinner for the first time this year with a fair amount of success, and my brother actually cooks for a living. That being said, I'm wondering if any of you have recipes that you particularly enjoy - the best stuffing ever, delicious mulled wine, and so on. Things that we are fans of in particular: cheese, wasabi, pepper, alcohol, green onions. Looking for ideas that are based in the traditional, but with some modern twists. Or recipes that are just really fucking delicious. Those are good, too.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
