Just got finished watching the Sherlock Holmes Blu-ray BD Live event thing, in which Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan were there to add movie commentary and answer fan-submitted questions. Some of the questions were absolutely retarded, and made me wonder just how much moderating the moderator was actually doing ("Do you guys have any snacks there with you now? What are your favorite snacks?? (you too, moderator!)" "What is your favorite animal?" "Are you team Edward or Jacob?"), but in all, I enjoyed it very much.
Some interview highlights:
Φ RDJ's shout-out to all the Holmes/Watson fans who thank him for the "subtextual lust," etc. (copypasta from holmeswatson09 thread: RDJ on the carriage scene: "It's like the odd couple on a gay retreat" then "This is the essence of their relationship" Then, off prompting: “I love every singe holmes/watson fan. How could you not be attracted to that (jude on screen)?" The next is paraphrased, 'By the time we are fighting over the waistcoat... no overt sexual [portrayal] but loved playing [with that aspect].')
Φ RDJ's subsequent "Boy, he's gorgeous" about Jude while the scene plays where they poke around the ginger midget's lab
Φ Robert calling his wife "Little D" asdhjkjhg I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING MORE ADORABLE IN MY LIFE
Φ On the question 'Who's a better kisser, Val [Kilmer,
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang] or Jude?' : something along the lines of "Well, I never kissed Jude in the movie. A trick question, I see." RDJ goes on to talk about this ridiculousness of Val Kilmer having been eating a "dirty ham sandwich" right before kissing him, and that he imagined kissing Jude would be preferable
Φ Sometimes RDJ totally lagged in answering the questions the moderator would put to him, and you just know it was because he was watching himself on screen. :DDD Towards the end of the whole thing he did it yet again, then admitted outright, "Sorry I trailed off there, I got distracted watching myself." To which Susan tells the moderator, "Welcome to my world." lolol
Φ While the 'favorite animal' question was rather stupid, the little sister and I were a bit jazzed that he mentioned the strawberry poison dart frog from the Life special. Somehow, this got turned back to the "dirty ham sandwich" comment, and RDJ decided that yes, his favorite animal was the "dirty ham sandwich frog." Naturally, a shoop was almost immediately forthcoming.
lolwhatisthis, idon't even... All in all, very much worth my abandoning my third graders to the "mean" TA to run home early. ≧∇≦
